    Smiths W10 Owners

I have been on the lookout for a Smiths W10 for a while. Can any owners tell me what accuracy I can expect ? I made an enquiry on a rather exceptional looking piece and was told to expect 1 minute +\- pd. mMaybe I was unrealistic to expect that. I appreciate that these are vintage watches but owning a 1960s Rolex know that age doesn’t necessarily mean poor time keeping. Cheers!

It will be difficult to say really. It depends on when it was last serviced and how well it’s regulated.
A freshly serviced example should be with a second or 2 day.
Anyone quoting minutes is either hedging their bets or the watch has not been serviced.

I had a 1967 one, sold here… ran at a couple of seconds a day.

But mine was properly serviced by John Senior.

Same here (but different watch): serviced by John sr. and within a few seconds a day. Brilliant watches.

+2. It was a great loss when John retired. Anybody else buy their W10 from MrH?

The one pictured above was from Mr H and that horde he uncovered. Maybe should have kept it as it was a minter.

+3 for mourning the loss of Mr Senior's services. He serviced both my W10 and my 6B and both run to inside 5 secs/day. Great watches and good luck with your search. As an additional note though, JS still has his website running so movement parts are available from him should another watch repairer need them during service.
