Taylors LBV should be the better of the two. Taylors probs £15ish, Cockburn's £8ish
Are you sure you got the date right on this one?
Not a port drinker myself, but have been given these 2 bottles over the last couple of years, just wondering which is the better of the two? Any experts here?
I ask as I’m planning to give one away to a friend and want it to be decent.
Cheers!

Agreed - the LBV is the better bottle.
Don't be afraid to use the Cockburns for cooking reductions.
None is outstanding (depending on how good a wine you want to give) but of the 2 the LBV is the better one

I love a bit of port, but i must be an uncultured philistine, as i don't like most of the fancy expensive ones, Cockburns SR for me and always grab a litre bottle for Crimbo, £10 at the moment
Costco always do some deals around this time of year. No idea about good/bad, as I'm no connoisseur. So more than happy with the cheaper stuff.
Give your friend both bottles.

...and keep the booze for Xmas
Surely the thread title should have been
A question of port

I’m partial to the occasional sip of port and would agree the LBV is definitely nicer. Personally I’m a Kopke fan, everything they produce is delicious.

I’ve just come by due to a bereavement a bottle of W J Graham 40 year old Tawny port which was bottled in 1990 which makes it 72 years old.
Is it likely to be any good I’ve found prices between £80 £120 is this likely.
Thanks Paul.
I have a 40 year old Tawny in the cellar - from my 40th birthday. Tawny is cask-aged (i.e. oxidised) and doesn't age after bottling so the 72 figure doesn't really count for much. Having said that it should be absolutely cracking just on the strength of the 40 year average age of the blend ingredients - some of the port in the blend will be well over 40 years old at time of bottling.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
Thanks CB that’s a Christmas Day tipple sorted then, it was given to me by my son in law he was left dozens of bottles of all sorts some great stuff he had no idea of value he does now lol.
I had a port flight whilst in Porto in May .
Didn’t even know there was such a thing .
Delicious, mind .
