    Apple Watch Advice

    Good evening folks.

Was gonna give Apple Tech Support a ring about this but before I do I thought I'd give this a go.
Recently got a 7. Now I'm new to Apple again. Having had an Apple product for nearly 8 years.
I'm trying to get the watch to vibrate and the screen to wake up when I receive for example a WhatsApp but just can't seem to figure it out. I've tried all sorts of setting but nothing. Same applies for pretty much everything except when the phone rings, the watch will vibrate etc then.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Go to the watch app on your phone and set it up there for each app. Click on the the app and a list of settings appear. Vibrate is haptic now

OK mate so literally give it to me step by step please as the only place a I can find say WhatsApp is under notifications, and the only option is to "mirror iphone" I don't have any other options for changing settings.

Probably easier just to book a Genius Bar appt and have an Apple boffin do it for you and show you how in person.

In my case that definitely isn't easier.

Thanks mate I'll have a look at that when I get the chance this morning but believe me I've tried everything. Maybe I'm just not searching for the right thing.

I appreciate your help but from what I can see that link is for when notifications aren't coming through to the watch. In my case they are it's just that the screen isn't waking up nor is the watch vibrating. I'm getting the red dot which tells me I've unread or unviewed notification but just can't seem to get the watch screen to wake up when they are received on the watch.

Pretty much read through that and from what I can see I have all the toggles checked etc so I'm at a loss as to what to do. Apple products generally just work with minimal effort which makes me think there is still some setting somewhere which is stopping the screen waking and haptic from working.

I have an Apple watch 5 and since the last two system updates I have have had a couple of features stop working .
Both times I have reset ( wiped ) the watch and restored from a backup . Success both times .

It is a very straightforward and easy process . Worth a try

    So just to update.
45 minutes on the phone with Apple and still no better off.
I'm at a total loss now when I believed all along that Apple products just worked. Certainly not in my case.

This might be a long-shot, but your watch doesn't receive notifications if you are using the app on your phone. Try asking someone to send you a WhatsApp whilst not using your phone. If notifications are set to mirror, then should should receive the haptic and message on your watch.

Thank you mate but that was done while on the phone with Apple. Nothing on the watch but when I woke the screen on the iPhone the notification was there. To add, the Red dot was on the watch so I know it received it, just didn't wake the screen or vibrate.

Didn't seem to fix the WhatsApp for me but I didn't get Haptic for normal message so getting there slowly I guess.
That above article at least suggests there is am issue. Think I'm gonna contact Apple again tomorrow to escalate this further.
Thanks a lot for your help and that goes for everyone else in the thread too.
