    AliExpress sale

Anyone bought off them recently? Do you get copped by customs?

There is a sale starting tomorrow.

Never bought off them myself but like the look of a watch on there

Most will ship from Spain etc snd no never been stopped customs

Buy from the official stores would be my advice

There are plenty of coupon codes etc you get when signing up

The sale is always great value

If your orders under £135 Aliexpress collect the VAT on behalf of HMRC and add 20% to your order but then when it arrives in the UK there's no custom fee's and royal mail should just deliver as normal

I don't think you can pick an EU warehouse for shipping now we're not part of the EU so all orders come direct from China

I've not placed an order above £135 but I would imagine it would depend on the value declared by the sender

When you place your order it often specified “ships from” and your can choose
Spain - China - Germany etc

But if you’re doing over £135 nothing to worry about

The watch I was looking at has slowly crept up last few days from £82 to now £90.

Just to clarify, you need to pay VAT regardless of the price.

If it's under £135, you'll see it added to the price in your basket. i.e. that £90 watch will become £108.

If it's over £135, you won't see it added to the price in your basket and instead it'll be collected from you by customs on arrival in the UK.

I ordered a few bits. Annoyingly one came in at £135.01. I assumed id paid the tax on everything but not on this. Don't know whether to cancel now and reorder to avoid the handling charge.
I'm also not sure what value the seller would declare so might still work out better than the automatic 20% add for items under £135

I’ve ordered a few things recently with no issue. VAT was added at checkout, and delivery was surprisingly quick from
China (7-10 days for 3 separate orders).

As above. I order lots from Ali Express and have never had an issue with customs. I think many of the sellers mark the parcel value down anyway, so you'd be pretty unlucky to get whacked with a tax bill I expect.
