Tales from the workshop; classic Alvis (2x) true his-and-hers!!!

The Jag Club (Dutch JDOC) had its annual Tech Day at the workshop today. Despite the lousy weather, a great turnout. There are always nice cars on display for the event (we had a Swallow Sidecar SS100 last time). Now: 2x an Alvis. The off-white racer is owned by a gentleman who uses the car for classic racing and rallying; his daily driver is a 60s Morgan Plus 4 Competition that looks like a tractor(...) - and since he doesn't want the top up, he's the guy to turn to when it comes to advice on foul weather gear.

His wife drives a lovely two-tone blue Alvis. And she uses this as her daily driver. Yes! It's in the shop for a leaf spring replacement, so I will be able to take better pics later this week. I didn't want to include recognizable people on today's pics.

    Menno

That's indeed hard to spot with only this part visible. It's an S-type.

    Love that pair of Alvis's.

    The saloon is gorgeous.

Being a fan of old British films you often see one flit through a scene with Armstrong Siddeleys etc etc.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

My Dad used to get Alvis or Lagonda’s from Manchester and drive them back to Sheffield either Snake Pass or MamTor. He told me once when coming down the MamTor road he was sideways for a good part of it on black ice. He was fearful for his life & job 1930’s pre WW2.
