The majority of Trasers watches are based on the SandY 650 in fact the unbranded ones are impossible to tell apart.
This is very interesting. Do you have more on Traser's history?

To the best of my knowledge, Traser is currently owned by mb-microtec, the major GTLS manufacturer.

These polar Dreadnoughts are a bit popular today. I can see why though.

    Enjoy your weekend.

Alas not really. Traser are owned by MB-Microtec.
I don’t think the SandY watches were made by SandY themselves but outsourced. Likely by MB. I guess (and it is a guess) when SandY went bust, MB either carried on making the watches or went to the same maker and asked them to build similar watches for their own brand.
If I remember correctly the use of the tubes in civilian applications was prevented for a few years after their invention. They were for military application only.
They have been used in rifle and pistol sights since the 70s but the first watches to use them appeared in the late 80s / 90s - they were all military issued. It’s only when Ball started making watches again in the 2000s that you could buy them in a civilian watch.

Prob not a discussion for the Friday thread…

Well, the new arrival came just in time. Initial impressions - the strap is more supple and the watch feels as though it wears slightly smaller than before (the 1000). Also, very pleased I went with the black version.

Thanks, although I'm assuming you're referring to the watch and not the 3 kegs of Stella on the office floor :) I've had it for several years & always forget how comfy it is to wear and how different it is to many other offerings ..

Yep the watch!! Not too many affordable proper world timers about these days.

Today its turned in to a tired "look at me with my Rolex" weekly thread. Nothing against Rolex but they aren't very interesting are they. And so many out there that they really are very uninteresting wading though the pics of what could be the same watch over and over again. Throughout my working life it was always a bit of a pinnacle owning a Rolex but only because of the name and status it gave the wearer (whether in their minds or the viewer). Its not even worth showing them off now because they are so common. Come on chaps, with the money you splash on the R's you could use your individuality and buy something interesting rather than follow the crowd

Anyway, something other than a Rolex today :0)
    False premise.
At the time of posting this there had been 55 watches posted excluding quotes. 12 were Rolex, the other 43 were not.

    On a re-count I made 13 Rolex to 42 others.

Quite shocked really, just goes to show just how boring the average Rolex is as they seemed endless!!!

I love watches on Natos and must have about 70 of the little devils but I always up end back on the bracelet, so I will enjoy this whilst it lasts.
