    Leather belt options

    Hi peeps
I need a new dark brown leather belt.
I would like good quality but not silly money.
Approx 1.5"wide and a good thickness eg 4mm.
Currently waring a raw leather one from Brave Star that's fantastic.

    Suggestions please

For a suit or jeans? Ralph Lauren do belts for about £39 (suit/chinos) to £55 (jeans) which are excellent.

The belt on my jeans must be 8 or 9 years old now. Still great.

I order mine from Geoff Wood, a leatherworker here in the UK.

Made to measure from the buckle and leather type and colour of your choosing from his stock. On request, he made mine so the buckle holes are fewer in number (I'm not going to change waist girth by many inches in a short time!) and half the usual distance apart to give finer adjustment after meals or depending on trouser material thickness etc.

I don't know if he has a website, but I have his working email if you're interested in a quote? From memory my ones a few years back were between £60-80, but prices may have shifted.

Given your location, a spin into London and visit to Camden Market will sort you out. M&M Leather are good, but there are others.

    What is silly money?

When the tang of my jeans belt broke over Christmas, I went looking for decent belts, preferably UK made.

I got a nice basic one for < £30, made in Southend, from https://bucklemybelt.com
I got a really nice oak-bark tanned one for £95, made in Worcestershire from https://www.timhardy.com

These are not cheap, but they're fabulous. Made locally to me, and with buckles from recycled salvage from shipwrecks!

    Best wishes,
    Martyn.
