You cannot beat plexi for warmth, interesting views of the dial and the odd bit of maintenance with polywatch is hardly a chore.
A great mix there with a lovely watch.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

That’s the one!!!

Nice. If only it was available to buy outside of a 2-minute window at 2pm every other Sunday
Any thoughts on making the plexi crystal available for sale separately? Would love to retrofit my Everest with this crystal (not sure if that’s even possible).

When will these be available please Eddie?

Actually I really do like the low profile of the crystal you’ve gone for there on the Commando - very nice indeed. Is the bezel now a separate piece?
Dang it, I do like that. I'm wearing my white-dialled Everest at the moment, and I do miss the plexi from the Mk1 Everest.

That looks great. Any chance of a straight on view please to compare with the sapphire model. Thanks in advance.
Looks like they all sold out today?

I see the plexi version sold out immediately, be interested to know how many of you were lucky enough to score one when the shop opened yesterday.
Where are they all going, not seen a single forum member wrist shot yet!
To be fair, they only went on sale yesterday?

Wasn't there a run a few weeks ago as well, maybe sapphire version, not seen any incomings for those either.
I was lucky. Probably THE Sunday understatement. I’ll post some shots once it arrived.
Ordered on Sunday, arrived today.
One plexi, one sapphire.
Lovely watches, very impressed.

Great shot - love how the plexi opens up the dial.

Now we are talking! Any chances of getting all this plexi goodness on the Everest?
Superb
The watch face looks bigger and clearer. Definite winner. This could potentially be done to a future line of Everest models too I guess.

Is it possible to swap the caliber with dial between this models (Everest/Commando)? That would be the fastest way.
Theres a whole thread somewhere regarding retrofitting a plexi crystal to the Everest.
Ive had saphire Everests, 29a and 29am's and had to move then on due to the milky ring. Fair play to those that dont mind but it ruins the dial for me.

I think the ‘milky ring’ is worse on the black dials.

Thanks Graham - yes thats the thread I was thinking of.
Was there someone on here that was offering to do this conversion for forum members? I cant remember. May have dreamt it!
Am I going nuts or was there a simple black dial version of the Commando?
Thanks.
Does anyone know if the separate Everest bracelet for sale on the TF site fits the Commando? They look like the same case?
I only ask because I managed to nab a Commando on flea-bay but I'm an inbetweener on links, even with the three micro holes, and the separate bracelet looks to have enough holes to ensure a perfect fit.
EDIT: Just seen this on the site:
Apart from the handset and new Tropical dial, all other details are identical to the Smiths Everest 36mm.
So that answers my question. However, I now need to wait until 2pm on a Sunday and try my luck with the crap shoot

I almost ‘pulled the trigger’ on one of these at 14:00, but I don’t really like the faux rivet bracelet. I wonder if there be an alternative bracelet option at some point?
