You cannot beat plexi for warmth, interesting views of the dial and the odd bit of maintenance with polywatch is hardly a chore.
A great mix there with a lovely watch.

Nice. If only it was available to buy outside of a 2-minute window at 2pm every other Sunday

Any thoughts on making the plexi crystal available for sale separately? Would love to retrofit my Everest with this crystal (not sure if that’s even possible).

    The case is manufactured differently.

Eddie, how about for us owners with an existing Commando?

I scored one on the last drop, am happy to bits with it but did not know there was a plexiglass version coming out.

Please consider selling us the plexi crystal?

    ‘Tis possible though!

Mind you I’ve not got around to having it pressure-tested yet. Any plans for the Navi with acrylic crystal?

Actually I really do like the low profile of the crystal you’ve gone for there on the Commando - very nice indeed. Is the bezel now a separate piece?

The plexi crystal won't fit the sapphire crystal case, that's why the plexi arrived later than the sapphire, a modified case had to be manufactured.

Dang it, I do like that. I'm wearing my white-dialled Everest at the moment, and I do miss the plexi from the Mk1 Everest.

That looks great. Any chance of a straight on view please to compare with the sapphire model. Thanks in advance.

I would also be interested in a front view to compare with the sapphire so I can make up my mind

I see the plexi version sold out immediately, be interested to know how many of you were lucky enough to score one when the shop opened yesterday.

I think there is a new crowd of people getting into these watches and they are not the forum types.

You are right. They haven't even received them. What happened to the drone deliveries they promised us?

Wasn't there a run a few weeks ago as well, maybe sapphire version, not seen any incomings for those either.

I was looking forward to seeing how many would crash on landing in urban areas or got stuck on the ground.

It seemed a cool idea but one that was infeasible in practice for the majority of a business's customer base.

    Ordered on Sunday, arrived today.

    One plexi, one sapphire.

    Lovely watches, very impressed.

Great shot - love how the plexi opens up the dial.

    Superb

The watch face looks bigger and clearer. Definite winner. This could potentially be done to a future line of Everest models too I guess.

Is it possible to swap the caliber with dial between this models (Everest/Commando)? That would be the fastest way.

Does the dial sit higher in the case on the plexi version? Or are they set at the same height?

Theres a whole thread somewhere regarding retrofitting a plexi crystal to the Everest.

Ive had saphire Everests, 29a and 29am's and had to move then on due to the milky ring. Fair play to those that dont mind but it ruins the dial for me.

I think the ‘milky ring’ is worse on the black dials.

Thanks Graham - yes thats the thread I was thinking of.

Was there someone on here that was offering to do this conversion for forum members? I cant remember. May have dreamt it!

Not that I know have. I have a batch of spare acrylic crystals - the same spec as I used in that thread, if anyone wants one to have a go!

    Just had a look.

The sapphire one will be the old mans xmas present so it’s still in all its plastic, so a bit tricky to really tell but, to my eye the plexi does seem to be higher.

The original version had a black dial and slightly longer hands.

    Thanks.

Does anyone know if the separate Everest bracelet for sale on the TF site fits the Commando? They look like the same case?

I only ask because I managed to nab a Commando on flea-bay but I'm an inbetweener on links, even with the three micro holes, and the separate bracelet looks to have enough holes to ensure a perfect fit.

EDIT: Just seen this on the site:

Apart from the handset and new Tropical dial, all other details are identical to the Smiths Everest 36mm.

So that answers my question. However, I now need to wait until 2pm on a Sunday and try my luck with the crap shoot

I almost ‘pulled the trigger’ on one of these at 14:00, but I don’t really like the faux rivet bracelet. I wonder if there be an alternative bracelet option at some point?

I’m sure I read that the next batch of Everest’s won’t have the riveted bracelets.
