New from Massena lab-Like everything except the price

I think that if they took a zero off the end of the price tag the watch would make more sense to me. Nothing massively wrong with it to look at, but just not special looking enough to warrant that price from where Im sitting.

Sold out though, so there are 11 people in the world who disagree...

So wait, it needs to be a bit cheaper than a £3k watch (say a Bremont Broadsword with an ETA 2836) to make any sense ?

I imagine there will be a few more than 11 that disagree. It’s not my cup of tea, but in terms of value it’s way ahead of another recent release around the same price point.

A touch of Garrick about it, but I’d prefer the Garrick. Is that a completely new movement or did it start off as a 6497?

Not at all the type of watch I am normally drawn to, but I must say I think it’s…. beautiful .

I thought there was a global shortage of cork.

Surely it's just priced as such for the stake of it? As in the price itself is part of the marketing effort. For me I don't see anything 'wow' about it - not even remotely - but that's just a taste thing, each to their own.

Is it just me, or are the hour and minutes hands rather alike? I'm fairly sure it's 10 past 10, but I'd need my glasses on to check!

Agreed. The minute hand's taper is so sudden and acute that the hands basically look the same.

They've ripped off Kurono on the hands but overall it is a lovely looking watch

Has a look of Ming watches to me. They all sell out too. Maybe Bremont limited edition Latitude will.

You might be stretching things a bit there, either that or your eyesight needs some help. I think it’s perfectly legible.

I like it although I don’t know enough about it to comment on the price.

Looks industrial and unrefined, not in a good way. I prefer that £500 Baltic anyday of the week regardless of price

each to their own & all that. I'd rather have a few Habrings for that kind of money.

I like how the dial is inspired by the cork noticeboard in my kitchen, even featuring a push pin to hold the hands on, or perhaps a timetable for which bin goes out.

Not just me, then. The cork look, plus the lack of distinction between the hour and minute hands, make it a miss from me.

I really like Massena LAB's cheaper watches, this one, not so much, but so what? Those who like it clearly love it, and that's cool, it's already sold-out, and there's no denying that Luca Soprana has genuine haute horlogerie chops, hence the price - this sold to LS collectors, not ML customers.

Going by the size of it, it looks like a Unitas. If it is so, it is just sad.
