    Bird identification…………………

    We live in an urban modern housing east ate and our garden is very sparse, completely paved with just a few raised beds with a little greenery planted up and get virtually no birds in our garden. The odd sparrow maybe.

    this afternoon this appeared in our Japanese maple, it’s a big bugger and is just sat there staring at me.

    ...apart from the ones that make like Road Runner & don't take off. Apparently it's bad form to shoot one when it's on the ground. My dad used to look after the pheasants on a shoot & the ones that survived were the ones that kept two feet on the ground & ran. He said that he would often see them peering round a hedge or a gateway to see whether the coast was clear, then they'd nip across.
