    Adele's Voice!

I'd forgotten how grating it is! Sick of hearing the new single already and it was only released today. Currently getting a free advert on BBC Breakfast 'news', after numerous ones on BBC radio since midnight.

Haven't heard this but usually love her voice.

But there's a lot of great new stuff out there.

Check out Julia Bardo, Self Esteem, Wet Leg, Remi Wolf, Du Blonde on the ladies side of things.

Could be worse, at least it’s not a duet with Ed Sheeran!

Ughhhh, to think of all the great eras of British Music and we end up with these two.

I wouldn’t watch either of them if they played in my back garden.

And since losing weight she’s lost her place in the “fat bird” corner of my celebrity w@*k bank…

    Adele's Voice!

The trouble with Adele/Ed Sheeran/Coldplay is that they are so overplayed they all grate the minute I hear them on the radio etc!
However, as opposed to a lot of the manufactured rubbish out there, I suspect that if any of the three I mention randomly popped round to my lounge after an evening at the pub I’d soon realise how talented they each are, even without modern studio production etc. they might not be your cup of tea - they’re not really mine - but you can’t deny the raw talent

Trouble is, she's the best of a load of crap. It never ceases to amaze me how people put these singers at the top.
Still she's better than that whining Sam Smith.

    Who?..
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Definitely better than Sam Smith, but most things which don't kill you or leave you with an embarrassing rash, are.

I think now that she has renounced Greggs a huge (and I use the term mulivariously) part of her fan base will melt away. Well not melt away, but slump away hugging a bargain bucket and a Rag 'n' Bone Man CD.

Agreed, his nasel whine is a poor excuse for a voice.

I see the new single is co-written and produced by Greg Kurstin, perhaps the busiest man in the music industry.

I got a new laptop and had to take it back to PC World as it was making an annoying whining noise.

They just said that was normal as it was a Dell…..

    I’ll get my coat…….

    Even worse when she talks.

Heard the new song this morning, no hook to it for me.

  21. #21
The new track is very .. meh ... but I suppose I'm not the demographic she or her record label are aiming for.

My wife loves Adele, Sheeran and Sam Smith so needless to say I detest it.

FWIW I think the main buyers of the above are probably women going by my admittedly small review of the music tastes of my wife and her pals.
    Cheers,

I agree, at least they can write and perform their own material, unlike a lot/most of the synthesised auto-tuned talentless sh*te out there.

  24. #24
I like 1-2 of Adele's songs but her voice just grates on me now. No doubt a talented singer/song writer but I couldn't listen to her sing for more for than a few minutes....as opposed to Randy Crawford and Roberta Flack

Their nasal whine, please. We must be careful not to cause offence to Sam by misgendering them.

I like her voice, but I'm not keen on the new single. Just sounds like a generic chart ballad.

I can 100% say that all the names mentioned have talent, good voices and could out perform anyone here..

That said I'm not keen on any of the artists mentioned, Ed Sheeran is good at performing solo with his loop pedal which is impressive and he has a few catchy songs plus he love watches so he's okay in my book, Adele is a talent but again not the sort of music I would buy and Sam Smith - well, enough said really..

If people are talking grating voices, I'll add Elton John and Phil Collins but they are probably loved by the TZ demographic...

I have to say I agree with most of the aforementioned annoying voices, I often think with such popularity and air time I find it grates even more. I will perhaps controversially throw Beyonce into the mix. She offends my ears. As does Liam Gallagher and David Bowie too.

Every single act named in this thread so far have voices that cause me pain. I appreciate we all have different tastes but it is reassuring to read that I'm not alone in disliking these performers.

Donald Fagen has a nasally, whiney sort of voice, but I can put up with that because Steely Dan was/is the best band on planet earth.

Lots of negativity for Adele here, but 🎵Skyfaaawww🎵 is some of the finest club singing of recent years.

So over hyped but unfortunately we are in the minority most people think she's a national treasure
I went to see a band a couple of weeks ago at Chester Live Rooms called Robert John and The Wreck they restored my faith in music so there is still hope out there 👍

According to an Irish journalist, Adele is 'the wine-bar Wagner'.

Justin Hawkins' (from The Darkness) views on Adele, on his new YouTube channel. Includes a funny Liam Gallagher impersonation. He's surprisingly engaging, which is a surprise as I had the impression he was a bit of a cock.

That was good. He's always been very charismatic but perhaps middle age and (I presume) no longer being a coke head has mellowed him out a bit

Aren't all her songs about break ups and unrequited lurve, which is fair enough I suppose but they all seem very samey, interchangeable to me apart from the Bond one which was truly awfawww...the one I can recollect best is where she's singing about leaving I think its a thousand or so messages on the fellas answerphone, but he never calls back...Well Duh Hello stalky, obsessive weirdo that's clearly your problem, grow up and move on...I can't abide her, the Mrs thinks she's alright though.

I get that people might not like the music, but Adele is the real deal.

She sings without autotune, with great feel and does her thing. You'll find it hard to find anyone who does music for a living that doesn't think she's amazing.

I listen to her in the way I listen to other virtuosos. I'm not really into the music, but the talent means you have to pay attention.

She's not the worst (by any stretch of the imagination) around, but I have to agree that the latest single is a generic, diva-ballad.

Some of her early stuff was genuinely decent, but she seems to be running short of inspiration. She's hardly alone in that, though.

I'd still rather listen to Rollin in the Deep than anything by Maria Carey, though...

I struggle with pop music. I think it's because I can't get away from it if I go to shops or put the radio on so I end up resenting it. Currently listening to a lot of Devin Townsend Project. Now there is a talented individual
