Speedmaster Pro 2021 Sedna Gold vs Day Date 40 Everose?

    Evening,

Any owners of the new rose (Sedna) gold version of the Speedy Pro? I tried one on recently and fell in love with the watch. Keen to hear your experiences.

At a whopping 30K it’s right there in Day-Date territory. The new Omega bracelet looks terrific in rose and the dial is high-quality too. It’s reassuringly weighty unlike the standard Speedy which has always felt a little lightweight for my taste. It’s diverted my attention from the Everose Day Date 40 with the anniversary olive dial.

I expect the Rolex is a safer way to retain value, but the Omega is an exciting proposition. I may wait for them to appear on the used market in the hope that there are bargains to be had. The Rolex on the other hand has lovely details like the concealed clasp, ceramic pin caps, and the day date complication that make it feel a little more premium. The Rolex is also automatic vs the hand wound Speedy.

One issue with the Omega - I would like to have seen a more decorated movement in the Sedna version.

    Interested in your views.

    Thanks

I think it looks great as long as the photos are not depicting the correct hue. If they are then then Omega have gone down the Michael Korrs rabbit hole.

Would I buy one? I don't think so, and I certainly wouldn't trade one for my DD40.

Also, unless the Speedy Sedna commands a premium, you are moving into a different price bracket to the DD40, especially olive dial, and moving further away by the week.

I like that Speedy more than I was expecting, but I don’t like it as much as a DD. If it were my money it would definitely be the Rolex.

I don't like the new steel Speedy, nor into gold watches, yet for some mysterious reason I absolutely love this new Sedna gold version. It's just the perfect contrast between the rose gold, and the black gilt dial.
If buying for an investment, couldn't argue that Rolex would be the potentially better option, but if buying for yourself, the Speedy is a hell of a lot more exciting IMO.
I'm a hardcore vintage nut, so I can only speak for myself when i say that day and/or date complications, or auto movements are all witchcraft and unnecessary - as the saying goes "Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication" this is only matter of personal preference of course. But if Clooney could pull off with wearing a solid gold Speedy in Money Monster, the road is all paved

Product placement - Clooney has been an Omega "ambassador" for some years now. I'll bet he doesn't drink Nespresso either!

I am not a fan of rose gold but between the two options I would opt for the Speedmaster. I think it is a far more interesting watch than the day-date and shows a little more individuality. Although it is irrelevant to me, I think you might find that the value retention is pretty similar. Nice dilemma to have so please let us know what you decide.

Thanks all. A lot of good perspectives here. I’m not necessarily looking at this from an investment point of view but it’s always nice to know that money isn’t being lost. The Sedna colouring looks much better in the flesh than in photos. It may be a while before I make the final decision but will keep you posted

    I like it.
    Would I have one over a DD40 ?
    Probably.
    A 18k Daytona ?
    Hmmm…….
    Probably not.
Would love to try one though !!
