Thread: North Kent Seaside?

    North Kent Seaside?

Have to visit Gillingham tomorrow. Is anywhere in north Kent worth a half day or so - Herne Bay, Whitstable, anywhere else?

    Whitstable is nice
If you like seafood there are plenty of restaurants/ pubs to choose from.

We had a lovely day at Whitstable a few years ago. We took food with us so can't help with restaurants but definitely recommended.

Harbour Garden Cafe for a casual bite, or the Whitstable Oyster Co for a glorious seafood feast!

    DON'T go to Sheerness!

    It makes Aldershot look salubrious!

    Another vote for Whitstable, though.

Chatham Dockyards are interesting if that sort of thing takes your fancy (I resisted saying 'floats your boat'...)

Known locally as dog sh*t island.
    Sheppy is a grim place.

I was an archaeologist working on a cemetery site on Sheppy back in the day. I drove up, from Dover, the morning after the storm of 1987. Talk about dodging trees, cars, road signs etc. On arrival at said site the caravan, where 2 guys were living, was on the other side of the site, 25metres from original place. Wrecked. Avoid Sheppy.
