To be honest given the choice I still think Bond should be male, white and British as per the original character.
If a female I like the idea of Ruth Wilson as a calculating and cold agent, without the usual overdone kicking and fighting. More the unexpected move when you least expect it kind of agent. And of course my reasoning is all based on the fact I just like watching her...
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
If Bond has to be female, though I don't agree with that, I think Charlize Theron ala Atomic Blonde would work.
Here's a name that hasn't been mentioned - Eoin Macken. At 38, he's good for 10 years & 3 films.
______
Jim.
I think that a new Bond should be in his seventies, so that he can be truly "undercover"! I am available Barbara.
A young Sean Connery CGI..?

Must be one of the favourites now....

I think Cavill is a great actor. He was excellent in The Man from Uncle, but he’s almost too good looking for Bond isn’t he?
So clever my foot fell off.
I still haven’t heard of anyone who would make a really good Bond. It’s that ability to smile at you, while still looking like they could kill you without a second thought. I think Craig had that menace.

Cavill's too big to play Bond. He'd make a great Sterling Archer though.
It depends where they want to go with Bond. More of the same? To paraphrase something I read ( hopefully not here, lol), Craig was great because you could believe he'd follow you out of a bar and murder you in an alley. I'm not convinced Cavill could pull that level of menace off, and I'm not totally convinced he can do much more than play Henry Cavill. Must re-watch The Man From Uncle to see if that's a valid opinion though.
I can see them going with Henry. They’ll want a bankable star to get people to the cinema. Straight to Netflix Bond just doesn’t feel quite right.
The eleventh Doctor.
I only hope they chose someone that will please the actual Bond fans and not the woke brigade.

As mentioned much earlier - I reckon Cillian Murphy would make a good James Bond.
Reprise the Tommy Shelby role without the brummy accent ?
He drinks, smokes, kicks ass & looks the part in a tux...

We need someone unmistakably British, from a Public School background but who isn't necessarily academic, someone who is responsible for the deaths of scores of people but doesn't let it get to his conscience, someone able to lie at will to get out of tricky situations, and who has a string of failed relationships.
I give you our next Bond
oops. Good shout Ryan.

Perfect call Ryan.
With that fat, sagging gut and mop of idiot hair, few will believe he's actually a spy, or clever, or capable of anything at all.
Oh... wait.
Great one Ryan, I’d love to see even just an intro of him in role!

Have the "woke brigade", whoever they are, put forward a list of acceptable candidates? Or are we just throwing the phrase around cos it's cool?
I still think Idris would be good.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Idris is too old now. He'd be fine as a one-off appearance but you aren't getting a decade and several movies out of him.
Anyone mentioned Hugh Laurie ?

Cillian would be good also. For a slight built and not particularly tall chap, he does exude an air of quiet menace.
