No longer waiting on the doorbell... Blancpain Fifty Fathoms content

Something titanium and blue. Last owned this brand 12 years ago. A potential reinvention of my approach to watch ownership i.e. brand diversification and reduction of the one brand I have most of.

Only issue is busy work day, so not sure if I'll get a few mins to open, or if it has to wait until tonight...

I've recently done the same-sold 4 watches and bought 4 completely different watches (including the blue Pelagos....).
I found it refreshing-certainly don't let a busy work day get in your way!

    Not a Tudor.

Got all excited as the door went earlier. Chomping to come and get a coffee and see if this was it, but alas something for the Mrs :(

    Ah ha...

I did pick these up in anticipation, although I think I'll probably leave it as it comes. I have plenty of strap-on :) alternatives already.

Just chased as nothing. Apparently a notification on 4th saying it'll be delivered 5th, has now become it'll be delivered on 6th :(

    Oh well. Here's to tomorrow.

Agonising for sure, but what a watch and we'll worth the agonising wait. I'd be like jelly now.

Nada today and a promise that will be tomorrow, but I can't accept delivery tomorrow... So that's no use to me.

    Friday... Here we come.

    Tick tock.

What a joy. Thanks a certain delivery firm, as ever firm of choice if you want unhappy/frustrated customers.

    Maybe tomorrow if I'm in.

I do have this in the meantime...

Ive spent many an agonising day waiting for the postman to ring the doorbell but thats half the fun, knowing that any minute I'll be unboxing my latest toy.

Got there in the end. Quick unboxing, adjust bracelet (amazing mechanism), set time and wear. Back to work and more later...

I should have done more pics when it was daylight as that it when this really pops, but still rather lovely regardless.

Nice weight to it. More than I was expecting which is a bonus.

The bracelet is a peach. Very comfy. Yes, micro adjustment would be very welcome but that would be at the expense of very low profile clasp. I'm happy to accept this as a pretty minor compromise. When I had subs with glidelock I rarely had them on different notches, and the easy link on a GMT/Milgauss was too much adjustment in one move. My Ploprof has outstanding micro adjustment, but it's a huge clasp.

Not sure what else to say about it. The Mrs likes it, and did say it's like a Sub only nicer. I did explain that the Fifty was the original ;)

Brilliant watch and wear very well on you. People overlook the BP FF because of the 45mm but as has been said a million times, the lug to lug counts.

Anyway awesome and glad it arrived

Also these look lovely on a strap. I had a rose on the strap and it was also lovely

    Cheers Kash.

Re size, indeed. I'm 6.8" wrist and whilst in some pics above it might look large, as I often state, it's all about perspective and definitely not large...

That is lovely indeed. You are right, the 45mm is why I have never gone for one. Same size wrist too you and that really does look like it wears well.

Very nice, and definitely worth the wait! I tried the normal black SS years ago but found it too bulky - but I imagine the titanium will be much more wearable. How do you find it compared to a Sub for example?

I do like that on the bracelet. I did ask about the cost of one when I had my FF on a strap but never got an answer from the Bond Street boutique.
Too late now as it has gone.

Very nice. Does the bracelet taper ? I think the lug width is 23mm, how wide is the clasp ?

Compared to sub it feels a tad lighter, but wears better, less 'on' the wrist and more in sympathy with the wrist. It certainly doesn't seem to be 5mm bigger in diameter.

The brushed titanium is a treat and makes it a lot less bling than a Sub. I commented above on the butterfly clasp versus the super duper modern Sub, and in this case the FF is more sophisticated.

Below are some images of when I got a ceramic Sub. 10 years ago https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...ght=Submariner

Thanks for the reply and comparison photos, Alun, much appreciated - if anything, the FF looks smaller on your wrist than the Sub! The FF in your last shot with the Pam is fantastic, really shows the beauty and variation of the blue dial. Sod's law no AD is likely to have one in to try, but I might go asking anyway. Anyway, thanks again, a great additional to your collection!

It likes a bit of sun

Alun, that is a stunning looking timepiece.
Love the way that the dial shimmers in the sunlight.
Really surprised how well it fits your wrist, which is only slightly larger than mine.
Now, I have got something else to distract me on a search engine LOL

That really is a rather splendid thing Alun, I think we have very similar tastes as I covet your equation of time as well.

Don’t see many of the 50 fathoms on bracelet, really looks superb.

I have too many sports/dive watches and was trying to convince myself I need something that’s not a Panerai and more of a dress watch but I keep coming back to these.

    Dangerous place this forum lol
