Training watch

Hi all,

I've bought a variety of second hand watches from SC for training but none has really hit the spot. They're either too flimsy or too big. Or they're in a dayglo colour.

I need a lightweight attractive watch that can be worn for training and also doesn't look too bad under a shirt cuff that offers the following:

- basic running tracking (distance covered and average speed should be enough)

- able to withstand shallow diving with a snorkel to around three or four metres

- must have good battery life (ideally capable of full function for 12 hours without a recharge)

- between 38 and 42mm

- ideally a few hundred pounds max

What would you go for?

Last gen Apple Watch? I only say last gen as it will keep the cost down a bit.

^Hadn't thought of that.

I like that idea - I use an Android phone so it wasn't on my radar but I suppose there's nothing to stop me. I didn't actually know they had location tracking.

I just upgraded to a Fitbit Charge 5. OLED screen and does all you want - can have constant screen or switch it off - its up to you. Battery lasts upto 7 days (or at least 3-4 days) between charges. Has built in GPS and can tap-and-pay (not tried that yet). Can be worn in the pool / showers. I got 30% off via my private health scheme - even without that it fits your budget.

I really had no idea Fitbits had that functionality.

I think that with these two options alone, you've both managed to provide better ideas than I had.

I was just about to fork out for another Suunto.

I paid for one of those in order to enter an event once and I think it was quite expensive.

They look good too and they're 38mm. Oh-oh sounds like I may need more than one.

Garmin 45S. In my experience you can't go wrong with a Garmin for a sports watch. They just work....
