    Hurt Locker Hero -Storyville

Having had a spare afternoon and looking for something to watch on TV, I came across this. I can’t remember watching something that has affected me and moved me as much for a long time. The story of Colonel Fakhir Berwari. A Kurd in the Iraqi army who disarmed thousands of mines. A true hero and a man who just wanted to help. It certainly gave me more of an insight into the bravery of some of the Iraqi people, and listening to him speaking to groups of people was absolutely humbling. At one point he says if the mine kills me it kills one person. If I can disarm it I can save tens of people. The man must have saved tens of thousands of lives. It won’t be for everyone as it is brutal in places and the tension is almost unbearable, but it is well worth a watch.

    What unbelievable bravery,
Perhaps bordering on reckless at times…

Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends
