    Got the call ...

and going to pick up this beautiful 36mm Datejust tomorrow lunchtime. When these were released earlier this year, the blue chequered dial stood out a mile for me. Very pleased that one has arrived with a plain bezel on the oyster strap too.

    Very nice!

I think the 36 is a better fit than the 41.
It just felt like a better fit for me.

    Fantastic, congratulations.

    36 is the future imo.

Congrats, tried one recently and felt that it worked really well. I don't think the pics do it justice, I was very impressed and seriously considering going on a list for one. Look forward to some incoming pics.

Beautiful watch. I was very enamoured by the watch when I put my order in for the 36mm Wimbledon dial DJ.

Mine is the plain blue, jubilee strap and fluted bezel.
Otherwise it looks exactly the same as yours!

It will be good to see some real photos of chequered dial!
So, different dial, fluted bezel and different bracelet but otherwise identical :-)

Congratulations - that dial makes it a bit different.

Watch picked up from my local AD this afternoon. Nice chat about watches and lots to look forward to over the coming months.

This datejust with the fluted motif blue dial is beautiful. The dial is the star! I didn't get a choice of bracelet or bezel. Much as though I love a fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, I think that on this occasion the watch is best suited with the polished bezel and oyster strap. It really means the dial can shine. And what a fantastic job they have done with. It is hard to capture with my really poor photography skills but hopefully the pictures below give you some idea. Also, it is around £1k more with a fluted bezel so was quite pleased that wasn't the option this time.

I really like these new dials, especially the TT ones. The inability to try one on is a big problem though, it’s a significant outlay without being 100% sure you like it.
It would be interesting to see how this stacks up size wise against some other watches.

That dial is really nice. There won’t be many of them in the wild at the moment!

On the photos from the Rolex website, the pattern looks like it stands out more. But in your photos, it is more subtle, which is obviously what you want!

You make a good point about the bezel. There is enough going on with the dial. So the fluted bezel might be too much. But again, it would be nice to see some real life photos of that configuration.

It’s not just the fluted dial that is extra. The jubilee bracelet will also cost you an extra £150.

What a beautiful watch. As above, the dial is the undisputed star here so the simplest bezel and bracelet option is likely the best configuration. I really like this one.

    Looks great Jonathan, well done.
Was there an option of an all brushed oyster,
The PCL’s really don’t do it for me.

I think that's wonderful, well done on the purchase. Having the PCLs brushed would make it truly perfect IMO.

That's a nice looking watch. Normally I prefer the fluted bezel and larger size but that does look good.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

That's a great looking DJ Jonathan. I think the Datejust works best at 36mm. Congrats!

Looks georgous mate, correct about the polished bezel & oyster bracelet (not a fan of fluted bezels myself), it gives the watch a tool & dress look all at the same time.

Congratulations..the DJ looks great. I went into London on Saturday to try and get on a list of see the new 36mm explorer and the guy on the door was telling another punter there was no lists and you needed a long purchase history to get a look in :( I was chuffed to read this and see that at least someone has managed to buy what they wanted. I love a blue dial.

Spot on, great choice. I didn’t realise the dial existed… shows how out of touch I am with the new stuff!
