Potentially very damaging for the auction house! They should hire the guy that wrote the article

Is it a bird? No! Is it a plane? No! It's Perezcope, the capeless superhero of the watch world, saving clueless customers from spending their hard earned money on fake watches.

Can’t believe they are continuing without further investigation- this could be brutal for their reputation if it turns out to be a dog

They didn't say they weren't investigating further. I bet they are doing so! But I can understand that they will want to stand behind it (despite the weasel word-ish change in description) unless and until they have investigated fully.

Of course, if they still decide that it's all genuine then that's where things get potentially complicated. If it sells (a big if, now) then it comes down to whether or not the buyer is happy with it and what the buyer can prove if he or she is unhappy on close inspection.

Not a good piece of press that… Doesn’t surprise me though, same thing happens in the collector car market too.

Not a fake though is it?
    It’s a Franken but it’s all undeniably Rolex…
Even the parts have a lot of value on this example

I meant in general, not this specific watch, but i stand corrected, let's say "not as original as the sellers would like their customers to believe"

I agree it doesn't sound good for someone with their reputation sounds more like some Dodgy con artist from eBay

It takes big kahunas to dismantle a $400k watch and modify it . I guess the $1 M upside is all part of the attraction.
