The correct name is Challis, I guess that your spell checker was over zealous.
He disliked the stereotyping that comes with a long term role, and was a credible theatre actor away from our tv screens.
He gave enjoyment to millions over a fifty year career.
One of the comedy greats, and a great actor.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
One spoke in what was the superb Only fools & horses wheel of laughter.
some superb one liners that will stay with me forever.
