Were there any acrylic crystal commandos sold today? I have heard of them but don't recall seeing a picture. I'm defiantly warming to this one.
Reminded me of the commando tropical dial. What’s more interesting though is what the original owner has had done to the case. Follow the link and check how he engraved his name and address on the side of the case. There’s also a link to a YouTube vid.

Has anybody received one of new tropical dial Commando pieces yet, would love to see what they look like on the wrist so to speak.
On a 7" wrist.
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
The commando looks great..but that 1016 dial is amazing.
Did anyone manage to get to order one of these today?
I was waiting for the store to open but the “add to cart” never appeared for me.
Ah okay, thanks for that.
Silly me was sat there waiting.
I think I’ve managed to get one...
Hopefully we get to see more of these in people’s hands with some strap changes. I’ve not seen any posted anywhere yet. Are people keeping their smiths pieces with the plastic on and not enjoying them? 🤷🏻*♂️
Ill be using mine as a daily wearer for sure, I’m not sold on the riveted bracelet and 20mm gives lots of strap options from my speedie.
I’d like to see it on a Milanese or simple brown calfskin.
It’s here, and it’s awesome!
Wow, looks fantastic.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
In half light it looks black, in room lighting it’s like a mahogany and in sunlight it’s more noticeable.
Crucially it never looks like dog shit brown...! 😀
Congratulations. Looks great on the wrist. I guess the dark colour of the hands is a lighting thing? Dark brown hands would look amazing though I guess less practical.
I like this one very much - classic lines, could wear it anywhere. If you ever decide to make a non bootneck version or add a tropic dial to the Everest Eddie I'll be front of the queue!

What does ‘non boot neck version’ mean?

Marines are sometimes referred to as bootnecks
I’ve now seen one of these in person and to my eye can confirm the indices have an aged look to them and do not have that greenish tint to them that the Everest sometimes shows in low light.
As it wasn’t mentioned I can only imagine that the lume is still X1-C3 but with a different colour added to make it look aged and fit the tropical dial. Can anyone who owns the watch comment?
To me it’s not green, more a vanilla/lemon. It’s close to chromalight in the daytime.
Yes I’d say a very faded yellow with a brown hint to it to my eyes. Think it looks fantastic in person. Really glad the indices were changed to match the tropical dial. Just not sure why it wasn’t specifically mentioned. According to the podcast interview with Eddie the people manufacturing the pieces have their own input into the watches too, so I can only imagine after the initial designs from Eddie that they decided on using a different technique to create that effect.
Taken next to each other in the same lighting

I am going to hung out on a limb and say it is the same lume that looks different due to the background.
I don't think we have seen this one.
Here is a look at the Smiths Commando prs-47 tropical dial.
