New Incoming - A bit (of) rubbish

Recently I posted about the new Oris Aquis 'Upcycle' https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...-Aquis-Upcycle

In summary, Oris have used reclaimed PET plastics from the ocean as the material for the dials. This means that each and every watch is different and unique. Hodinkee have a great write up with all the details here: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/th...s-date-upcycle

Last weekend, I spoke to a few jewellers to try and find some nice balanced dials that were not too crazy, or not exciting enough. Legibility was key as you could end up with a large colour imbalance making it hard to read.
It came down to two and I decided to visit Francis & Gaye in Coventry, which was a great choice. Huge range and fantastic service.

Anyway, this might be the hardest watch I've tried to photograph, so here are some mediocre shots to try and show it off.

I'll work on getting some better ones. The dial really changes in the different light and you see different colours breaking through. I've never owned an Oris before, and I'm really pleasantly surprised with the comfort as well as finishing. Next job is to try and source a strap and clasp to change it up every now and then.

Good luck with a strap - it has weird proprietary lugs. Nice watch btw. Oh and to remove the bracelet you need a special tool, and I don’t think it comes with the watch so be careful with that. I think the Oris rubber would look great - maybe the orange

Lovely purchase, they have their detractors but I think they look fantastic.

Oris make a great, solid watch.

The rounded caseback and the gaps in the bracelet make for a very comfortable wear, despite the size

I like that a lot. Did you have a few dials to choose from?

    That’s really nice
The bezel colour and lume glow really match the blue dial
    Very nice

Francis & Gaye are a great shop and really nice to deal with.
Great dial you managed to get.

Saw a Ladies' and a Gent's version in a shop window yesterday. Very striking, that's for sure.

Almost looks like a section of a photograph of the milky way.

Quite keen to see one in the metal.

New Incoming - A bit (of) rubbish

Just picked up the 36mm as a pressie for the Mrs today.

I am quite impressed. Feels very well made, looks interesting and she is chuffed with it - so winners all round!

Bought it from AMJ in Newark. Was looking at the Breitling Chronomat 36 initially but the Oris just seemed so much more interesting.

I will try for some decent photos in the better light

    ^^^

That dial reminds me of the cover of Disintegration by The Cure.

Both the dial and the album are very good by the way.
