Where in London can I get a leather bag repaired?

    Hi,

The handle of my girlfriend's backpack has broken as her below picture, any ideas where in London I can get this repaired? Preferably either in the City or in SE London.

    Thanks
    Jonas

I’ve seen cobblers like Timpsons repairing bags and luggage. If it’s a high end expensive brand they may offer a repair service.

    Take it back to Aspinal?

When I typed in ‘<Leather Bag Repairs London’> I get a map with about 10 business pop up. You can look at there review scores and decide for yourself.

Sometimes it is easier to spend 2 mins of you own research than ask for some forum spoon feeding.

Given the number of leather straps and bags sold on SC, turning to this forum for a leather repair recommendation from a trusted specialist sounds like a fair shout. Shame about the patronising responses.

Sometimes it's nice to get personal recommendations, or just have a bit of a chat about it.

    Hello
Is the backpack a quality product? Or does it have sentimental worth to your girlfriend?. I ask this because although it’s only one split, the piece still attached would have to be unpicked then a fresh piece of matching leather stitched back. Also if the underside of the piece has then been lined with fabric this to would involve extra work for a professional job. From your pic it looks a decent pack, I’m just curious if it’s a synthetic leather the way it’s torn away completely from the fitting. I’m sorry I can’t recommend anyone in your area, personally for a quality job I’d try to find a craftworker rather than handing it over to Timpsons or similar.

Not in the City and I’m not sure if they do bags but I’ve used Pinnas and Needles in the West End for other tailoring work and they tend to do high end stuff so quality is excellent. They’re on Instagram so you can see the sort of work they do.

If you’re near Hatton Garden ask in any of the high end pawn shops as they always have good contacts as they take a lot of high r f designer bags and luggage these days

    Timpsons is a no no

Any decent cobblers should be able to fix that

Thanks a lot for all responses, much appreciated. Could go back to Aspinal but it went back for another reason last year and it was such a bad experience I’d rather pay some decent to do it. It’s sentimental / decent enough to warrant a proper repair :)

Appreciate google exists but wanted a bit more knowledgeable answer. Again thanks all for responding, my gf will certainly appreciate getting it fixed.
