    Tripod for spotting scope

I've decided to dust off my ancient Kowa TSN-1 scope, but I need to get a tripod for it. Needs to be fairly light and with a pan and tilt head. Any recommendations?

Are you sure about it being light? Usually heavy is best for supports. The old chestnut for tripods is that you can only have 2 from the "triangle" . . .

    1. Light
    2. Cheap
    3. Sturdy

Red Snapper do a good range of quality supports at good prices. There's also lots of good used available at the likes of Ffordes, MPN, LCE, Park Camera etc etc.

I have had the previous incarnation of this head for years: https://www.manfrotto.com/uk-en/xpro...tor-mhxpro-2w/
Scopes have come and gone, but the head (and aluminium tripod) just keeps doing its thing.
An aluminium tripod is not the lightest, but it is rock solid (and not crazy expensive like the carbon equivalent).

Looks good but I was hoping to spend less than that. I'll probably go for some kind of aluminium stand as that's what I've had in the past to good effect.

I bought one of these to use with an Acuter 20-60X80. They were both recommended in the Sky at Night magazine and have performed well enough.

As it’s a spotting scope. Will a mono pod not fit the bill?

I need to be able to use binoculars as well so a tripod is best.
