Two New GS Hi Beat Divers SBGH289 & SBGH291

Grand Seiko have introduced two new hi-beat divers ,the SBGH289 and the SBGH291 . Two very nice divers , way over my budget but could be of interest to others .

They look really nice but in true GS style the clasp is awful.

Apart from a ceramic insert, I cant really see any changes from the previous references.
As wileeeeeey says - ditch the awful clasp GS.

What don't you like about the clasp? It's better than my GS clasp.

At approx £6k the same clasp which has been on the MM300 since it was £1.3k on SC is offensive.

Seiko and Grand Seiko spend 99% of the R&D budget on the watch and totally neglect the bracelets -- especially the clasps.

Fair point, I hadn't realised that.

Lovely watches, I'll need to scratch the GS itch one day.

Agree, I dont get on with their divers clasps at all.
Ok on a lower priced watch but on their pricey stuff it needs a significant upgrade.

    Nice. But too big.

If GS did a 38 - 40mm diver that would be great.

Was hoping for a spring drive with the 5 day movement that wasn't a limited edition.

I read about this earlier too. Think I'll stick with my not-a-GS-but-may-as-well-be SLA039

I prefer this to the new release. This and it’s inspiration are possibly the most handsome diver ever produced
The GS divers are fantastic quality but design wise they just don’t look good enough to justify the price in my mind. If you are spending the money you have to like the look of something and there is always something that I don’t like with the designs.
