Tag Heuer welcomes back an icon with the new Aquaracer 300 night diver . I like this one .

I really really like that. This however....

This treatment also makes a lot of its details more understated, and with that, they become a personal pleasure.

Wondering why people with no interest in watches are on a watch forum?

I quite like it, but this watch isn’t worth £3k.

It’s competing with the All-black Ceramic HydroConquest from Longines (similar price). And the Longines is entirely ceramic, which is rare for a mainstream Swiss watch under £3k.

Used, it will be a good buy I would have thought.
I am not a fan of the standard watch but I have always had a soft spot for the original night diver so I might keep a look out on the used market for one.

I like the look of that a bit different at least

Agreed, nice watch if it can be found at a good used price.

There aren't many full-lume dial divers about and I like the look of that, but not at £3k.

I like it and I also like the ‘844’ homage/re-issue ltd edition….. But not enough to actually get my hand in my pocket. A couple of mm and a few hundred £££ off however and they would be a definate must buy.
I also keep looking at the Orange dial F1 and thinking yeah…. Maybe I should pop down to the AD with my haggling trousers on.

I hadn't noticed the price and assumed it would be the same as the others in the range.

£1500 seems about right. £3k is a bit of a shocker for a basic Tag isn’t it??!!

They did a fill lume quartz one a few years back, the model code was WAY108A (I look for cheap ones every now and again). Just over a grand these days.

I really like the look of this one, which gives me an odd feeling given that it's a TAG...

I agree that the RRP is very steep for a PVD steel watch, no bracelet and what will probably be a base grade SW200 derived movement. I think this is going to be part of the core lineup going forward, so I imagine that there's some scope for discounts.

Now if only someone would make a homage to the Living Daylights quartz Night Diver instead...

Thats 3 times the price of the Squale 1521 full lume. Its certainly not 3 times the watch!

A perfect example of less is more - no stripy dial, no hexagonal markers……bingo, a much nicer watch all round imho

I have often said that all black watches looked the same. You really have to get close to see any differences.

A friend had one of those with a black dial when they first came out. It was so cool.

Early look / puff piece now up on Hodinkee.

Calling it the sleeper hit of the year seems a bit strong, particularly in light of the comments on the article.

LVMH own Tag and Hodonkey. I doubt there will ever be an early look of a LVMH brand that isnt pumping it to high heavens ever again.

I have the same watch - bought new around 90 or 91 i think. Lume no longer works as it should due to the tritium used. Hands still glow a bit though..

I like the original very much. The new one does nothing for me, and the usual hyperbole from Hodinkee. Do they every post a lukewarm review , let alone a critical one?

I tried one on in my local AD yesterday.
Liked the images I’d seen of it on-line, looked great sat there in the window and kaboom, it was on the wrist and making my wallet twitch.
Even without the cool lume the Watch is strikingly different.
Usual Tag quality, solid enough, typical ratchety bezel and the micro adjust on the clasp could use some refinement.
Loved the clarity of the dial and the matt finish, reminded me slightly of a DSOTM Speedy I tried on a year or Two ago. High praise indeed !
Not only that, it’s a new release, actually available to buy today and if you are on good terms with your retailer you may even get a sweetener !

Not seen many about in AD windows.

Especially when it will be worth less than £1500, the moment you step out of the shop with that fancy shopping bag
