A guide to posting pictures - 2021 Edition

The original guide is laughably out of date, so here's an updated version

How to Post a Picture on TZ-UK

There are three steps to posting a picture:
    1. Take your picture, and transfer it to your PC. This is not covered by this guide. :)
    2. Upload the image to a web host.
    3. Link to the image in your TZ-UK forum post.

Uploading your image to a web host

There are many websites that will host/store pictures for you. Your choice of host makes no difference when you come to post your picture on the TZ-UK forum. I find Imgur (https://imgur.com/) is the easiet to use, so I'll describe that.

You don't need an account for Imgur; just upload your picture and get the image link.

    1. Go to Imgur.com, and on the home page, click the 'New post' button:

    2. In the next screen, drag and drop your image onto the 'Drop Images Here' box. Your picture will be uploaded, and appear on screen. You could also use the 'Choose Photo/Video' link, and navigate to your picture.

    3. When your picture appears, move your mouse pointer to the top right corner, where an ellipsis will appear. Click the ellipsis, and then choose 'Get share links'.

    4. Click the 'copy Link' button for BBCode (Forums):

    5. Paste the copied link into your forum post. It will look something like this (without spaces)

That also generally involves paying for Tapatalk if you want anything near decent photo quality. FWIW, I don't use Tapatalk.

    Thanks, hogthrob.

As my 'workflow' around it is a bit different, I'll allow myself to chime in, so people have more options.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop your image right on the screen from step 1. A 'new post' will be created and displayed automatically after the upload is complete.

    3. When your picture appears, move your mouse pointer to the top right corner, where an ellipsis will appear. Click the ellipsis, and then choose 'Get share links'.

Alternatively, you can right-click anywhere on your uploaded image as seen in step 3, and from the browser's context menu choose 'Copy image address' (Chrome) or 'Copy Image Link' (Firefox), and then use it in your TZUK post (either through the 'Insert Image' icon/tool or, manually, by using the image tags around it:
    Code:
    [img]the_copied_URL_address_of_your_image_here[/img]

Thank you for pointing this out for people. Did I dream it, or was there a request for help yesterday evening? I think I replied, but the thread has disappeared. I sat down this morning to record my screen with a How-To, and I couldn't find the request.

Imgur is great, and my image host of choice.

Postimg.cc gets my vote. It is idiot proof.

That's it - I tried to find it by the threads I'd posted in, and turns out I never hit "Post". Opps.

    Good work, OP.

I have paid for tapatalk, using a Samsung Galaxy S21 but when I try to take a photo from the app to it doesn't go through. The only way to do it is take a pic, then choose the pic from gallery. Bit of a pain.
