Appreciated
Been thinking on this the last month or two as my position with watches has changed but I certainly don’t spend anywhere near the time I used to on the forum. For many reasons; work, family, Instagram, this ongoing Rolex nonsense 😊
Having said that I have met a lot of good people over the years, in person but mainly online and wanted to be open about my new business activity.
I am predominantly a retailer in the garden industry and also have a café and restaurant and that hasn’t changed, its still my full-time occupation and main income.
In February of this year we were in our second lockdown where I live and given my long time obsession with watches (that has literally cost me a fortune!) I thought I would put my knowledge and passion to some use and went about starting an online watch business. I predominantly source watches, vintage and some pre owned. I generally wholesale watches to other small dealers but have a small website and recently started a new YouTube channel.
Why am I saying this here? Because I have used sales corner over the years and I don’t want there to be a mis understanding. I will only use sales corner for my personal watches, not for business use. I haven’t bought any watches off sales corner in years (from memory). I know Eddie does generously allow dealers with a 10% donation to the fundraiser but my margins are super low at 5-7% so it doesn’t work for someone like me. Also, at some point someone may recognise me online! 😊
This isn’t intended to be a plug, its just a hobby business for me as a passion, if it continues to work then great. If not I have plenty to keep me busy already.
Any continued use of the forum will always be for personal use.
Cheers
James

Thank God, I thought this was going to be a post about enjoying Invicta watches.
And would you be able to tell us the details of your online business, (perhaps by PM rather than openly on the forum)?
After reading the title I thought this was going to be about something completely different
"Coming out" had an entirely different connotation to me.
Cheers,
Neil.
Never transacted with you but your deals always seem very fair and transparent, just as you are with this post on here. Good luck in your venture.
Well done on using lockdown to re appraise what you want to do , and good luck in your new venture.
Steve
All the best with the new business venture!

Good luck James
Margins of 5-7%, is this why auction house watches are selling for extremely high prices?
Nice to be straight up about it. Good luck, hope it works out for you.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Good luck, I've had a couple from you, pm me you new venture details too please.
Fair play.
For the record, I’ve dealt with James - twice if memory serves - and both times, it was seamless. I would have no hesitation in dealing with him again in either a private or business setting.
Good luck with the new venture.
Thanks for all the messages, appreciated.

Would there be any harm in posting the details here? If so, can you PM me too, James?
I don't see any harm in telling us openly about the business.
A long standing forum member is declaring that he's opening a business as a watch trader, so we know how he's using sales corner, and we're asking for more info. That's very different to someone joining up just to plug their business.
I collect vintage watches, rarely am I interested in modern stuff. So I'd be interested to know of a retailer that I can trust isn't creating frankens for a quick buck.
Good luck with your venture.
