    Breguet Sunday

Just thought this might make a change to the usual valuation discussions
I picked this up from Martin this week on the forum having been looking for some time for one. It is a , now discontinued, Breguet Marine 5817 and the detail on it is gorgeous. Here is an interesting link to the art of Breguet hand engine turned guillochage.

    2 gratuitous photos to enjoy.
    Happy Sunday!
    Richard

One of those watches which doesn't get the recognition/fanfare it deserves imo - another grail watch I'm unlikely to realise but still love 'em

It’s crazy a watch like this can be had cheaper than some of the more common mainstream watches. The craftsmanship and quality knocks spots off most of its competitors.
It’s nice to see something different.

    Stunning!

I’ve always fancied one of these, in fact, I bought a short length strap from the Breguet boutique a few years ago in preparation. IMHO, the 5817 is far nicer than the current Marine.

Let me know if you ever want to sell it,

Thanks Simon- I don't want to sell it but I'll buy the short strap if you don't want it?

That is a beauty, congrats! Are the hands lumed, if I may ask?

I’m determined to own a 5817 one day, so I’ll keep hold of it 🙂

I almost bought one at WF a few years ago, but the regular strap was too long. The WF salesman said it had to go back to Breguet for a strap change and that could take months, so I didn’t complete the purchase. A few months later, I just called the boutique and they popped one in the post without issue!

Yes- the little " circle" on each hand, not the second hand though.

That looks stunning, love the fact that it has the panorama date widow.
I have never owned a Breguet timepiece, but this piece would most certainly be one that I would seriously consider.
The movement looks as beautiful as the dial.

Thanks. That dial really is something to behold.

Absolutely stunning. The quality of the dial and case work of these puts many other, more popular watches, to shame.
I’m picking up a 5827 sometime in the next couple of weeks. Tried it yesterday and everything about it is perfect for me, these are so much nicer than the newer versions.

    Beautiful!

We were in York a few weeks ago and I did the usual window shopping. My wife did her usual they all look the same, you don’t need another watch, etc

Then we saw a shop that stocked Breguet. I really like those she said.

I had to point out the rough pricing as nothing had tags on!!

    Cheers, Shaun

    Breguet Sunday here as well.

Enjoy the 5817 - I owned an identical watch, superb although servicing now needs to be done at Breguet and not indys any more (due to parts unavailability) and is a bit of an 'assume the position' experience!

That might be the nicest rotor in the business. It’s absolutely stunning. It is a truly impressive looking watch for the money. I’ve been all over you tube videos of it since I saw the post - I’d never come across the 5817 before. Splendid!

I got a 5817 earlier this month and it is easily the most beautiful object I own. It is a remarkable watch and I have owned some pretty good watches in the past (Fifty Fathoms, etc). I will never let this one go.

Had one for too short a period.
I will try and own another.
    Love them.
