    Cheap 40mm diver

    Dear all,

I’m thinking about buying a cheap watch for vacation. Last vacation my submariner got stolen, so i don’t want to take my ‘good’ one watch with me this time.

Needs to be; Max 500 Euro, but 250 would be better. 40mm and preferb about 10mm high. Nato or bracelet. Good for diving to max 20 m deep.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Apeks diver, Seiko movement 200 m WR, brilliant VFM around £90.

    Scurfa diver one?

One of these maybe, there is also a few other configurations in the range.

I have been extremely impressed with mine.

Casio dw5600e - it won’t get stolen and you’ll be shocked how good it is! - and it’ll cost you a lot less than you’d imagine. A bit of a classic too in its own right!

Is quartz OK and is 40mm a hard limit? There is a MWC diver on SC that is well with in price range and assuming is wears the same as a CWC, a compact 41mm.

    Cheap 40mm diver

Having just got a Citizen NY0040, that hacks, hand winds, keeps time to 3.5 secs a day, and is a proper diver, I’d go for that. About £150 new

Possibly the best bang for buck watch I’ve ever had, and you have to spend an awful lot more to get better. I love mine, and I’ve got much more expensive stuff.

    SMITHS CARIBBEAN 1000 PRS-55 (£385.00)

A little taller than you want, but looks like a great holiday watch to me!

I didn't know these had a hacking movement? I thought it was an 8203 with day/date and hand winding only?

Never said it would be easy to obtain!
Buy one of these instead then :-

Been my holiday watch for quite a few years - great watch that wears like a 40mm & can be picked up (easily! ) for under £200.

    I see there is a 17le and a 9le.

The description on the site that sells them doesn’t tell the difference. Looks fine. But isn’t it big?

A bit too high for the wrist… Unfortunatly i have a small wrist. A 16610 is perfect. The 116610 is just too big. Also too high. 12,5 does feel bigh and sits high on the wrist already.

    Mine is. -9e

It wears smaller than it’s numbers, that is quite a common comment about it. It wears the same as my 16610

Steeldive do a large range, well within your budget. The only stumbling block is the case case thickness, but still worth a look perhaps if you can handle an extra mm or 2.

I'd also recommend steeldive / Heimdallr / San Martin - I have 3 already and am finding it hard to justify spending more on other similar styles of watch - I'm after a Tactical Frog next, then a Pilot 1903 then possibly one of their 1969 ploproff homages.

10mm thick diver under €500 might be a hard ask.

I’v got the ny0040. I must say it doesn’t wear big and fits well enough.

First cheap watch I own. I like it a lot more thannI thought I would. Nice watch and perfect for vacation. Not to worry if I loose it or gets stolen. 👌

How about a homage to the Seiko 6105-8000

    Rdunae Vintage Turtle.

They are about 13mm in height and come with a rubber strap, Seiko movement and are inexpensive too.
