The box is full - who’s leaving?

I’ve got my thoughts, but which would you sell?

The newest entrant, the Tudor, is safe - as you’d expect for something that’s only gained 2 seconds in 8 days!

Patek, GS or smiths to go for me, but lets face it a bigger box is the answer.

Tudor would have been top of my list, so my revised list is the Datejust followed by the Smiths then either the Speedmaster or the GS.

The Patek gets my vote to go (I really thought it was a Hamilton dress watch before the image resolution changed and I could see the branding), then maybe the Smiths.

Get a leather strap for the Patek! Then let the GS go - don't like that one at all.. (well you did ask!)

Working clockwise from top-left, I'd get rid of nos. 3, 4, 7 & 8 - and get a new nato for the Speedy while you're at it.

AT or Reverso for me but tbh could easily include the GS or Tudor in there too.

For me I'd get rid of the AT, the DJ and the Smiths. The Patek is actually a beautiful watch but IMHO not on that bracelet- a nice croc for that and job done. I'm not a fan of the Reversos ingeneral but ut adds some variety to the box.

  15. #15
Get rid of the Patek, it’s too similar to the date just.

I have a couple of spare entries in my watch box so happy to look after it for you

    Cheers, Shaun

GS GMT as do you really need 2 GMTs? Followed by the Smiths, then I’d decide what you don’t wear from the Datejust, Patek & AquaTerra for me they fill the same scenario. Actually the AT, strap a leather on the Patek and keep the Datejust.

I'd lose the Patek too - its just unremarkable compared to the rest imo. If you really want to keep it then the Grand Seiko.

    GS to go

  25. #25
If it was me the DJ would go. Too similar to the vastly superior watch next door and wouldn’t get a look in.

I would choose the GS to go as you have plenty of better looking black dialed watches.

I’d get rid of the AT annual calendar. Is there ever a time when you don’t know what month it is? Seems like such a ridiculous feature to me. Other than that, you’ve a fine collection there.

Smiths, considering this looks like the original version with shorter hour hands.

    Keepers:

    Speedy (no NATO. Ever. Please)
    GMT
    BB58 (needs blue rubber strap)
Patek (needs an overpriced, shiny, amphibious / reptilian animal skin strap)

    Neutrals:

    Smiths
AT (good watch but would you wear it over the BB58?)
DJ (would you wear this over the Patek? Nope)
Reverso (I own a reverso but I think you may have the wrong model?)

    Dump:

    GS

My take on this is that you have the perfect number of watches. One on the wrist and the rest nicely fit in the box, job done. Although I do like the "buy a bigger box" option.....

Move the Smiths to a 'second tier' box. I have a 'beater collection' that gets used daily when I'm out and about and likely to be in situations where I don't want to have an expensive watch on.

I’d lose the GS. Either that or as said above move the Smiths out the box and have it as a beater.
What a great collection. I’m one of a few here to like that PP. any chance of a close up picture? Ref number?
Love the DJ it is a linen dial?

Could apply OCD and pair them up.

    Tudor and the GMT.

    Seiko and Speedy.

Leather strap on the Patek and obviously keep the Reverso.

Six different brands. Two GMT's, two dive, two dress.

The other three are superfluous. Sell them and get a second chrono!

    Might have confused myself here...

The Smiths for me, and if to get rid two I would choose the GS.

    GS...fairly easy

  44. #44
As someone else said it’s the perfect amount of watches, one one the wrist and a box that’s full, can’t bear to look at a watch box with empty slots!

The box is full - who’s leaving?

Lose the Patek - first one I’ve seen and does nothing

    Edit.
Actually scratch that comment. The answer is the one you wear the least

If it wasn't a Patek, then the Patek would be the obvious answer if that makes sense.

Personally I think move the Patek onto a strap and then ditch the AT.

the patek would go for me, it’s a bit boring in my honest opinion, but you’’d get good money back rather than selling the GS or the smiths

Strange as I have always liked that particular Grand Seiko, but seeing it in the company of the others you already own, I too would be letting it go.
