Lemania 5100 - Tutima, Sinn, Orfina?

    I’ve decided I want a chronograph.
A speedy is a possibility, but it’s a bit cliched.
So I had a look about and came across the Sinn 156. Nice looking, great readability and obviously with a following.
But (there’s always a but…) the bezel. I already have a couple of dive watches and I’m looking for a different vibe.

So I poked about and came across a whole load of Lemania 5100 based watches.
I love the orange/red airplane hand set, which I’ve seen on Tutima and some Porsche Design (Orfina) watches.
Of course a Porsche Design one would go nicely with this :

    ;)

Is there anything to sway one way or the other?
Any other 5100 watches I should be looking at?

The budget would stretch as far as a 3861 Speedy (although less would be better).

    Thoughts?

    Dave

The Sinn EZM1 Le was the last watch to ever have a 5100 movement fitted to it I believe and will worth getting

A bit more expensive than an orfina though…
Both have been grails of mine and I am lucky enough to have both. But if there is one that made the lemania 5100 well known then that’s the orfina.
I have also had the tutima and the 156.
The Tutima is an amazing watch and the hooded pushers are very innovative but it felt way top heavy and moved it on.
The 156 is an amazing watch and one that I regret letting go when I got my bund but it is lacking the military heritage……

Fortis Cosmonaut using the Lemania 5100?

A long while ago, I was hunting for something with a central minutes chronograph, and that's what brought me to the Lemania 5100. Other options in the watch world here: https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...minute-counter

I think I'd next go for the Tutima Saxon One Chronograph or the Damasko DC86

If you don't want the bezel, there's the 157.

    ...or 142.

Of course the Cosmonaut is a classic.

You mention a speedy have you considered a speedy mark 4.5?

Or mark 3, mark 4, 125, grail or many other 5100 powered omegas.

The Arctos Bund issued watch is worth tracking down. Looks wises it’s a cross between the Orfina and Tutima
One word of caution, the 5100 has a large number of plastic parts in the movement that become brittle and fragile, the date parts especially. Some of these are becoming hard to find when needed at service time. The youngest movements are nearly 30 years old, most much older than that.
If reliability is a concern (it may not be) I would look at a modern Sinn or Damasko with centre minute counter instead.

There’s an absolutely cracking Roamer 5100 on MWR at the moment but you’ll need an account to see it.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Is it also on the Omega forums? https://omegaforums.net/threads/roam...a-dial.134744/

Of course there is always the option to go OEM...

Lemania did release their own branded watches (a lot which may appear familiar!). I have this one.

This (although before Rajen chips in not a 5100 but an Omega 1041 Omega caliber 1041 » WatchBase) derivative using the same base movement) is my favourite watch with the Lemania central seconds chrono:

Can't go wrong with central seconds.

The Fortis Stratoliner has a tachy bezel and a couple of different dial options (numerals or indices). This is mine.

The Tutima NATO Military comes in a variety of configurations, including SS or Ti case, Bund or US Government markings on the back of issued watches, destro or non-destro versions, variations from the standard 1-12 chapter ring (maybe a tachymeter chapter ring) and even other brands on the dial like Rodania. Of course many of these are much more rare than a standard non-destro Tutima Military NATO in SS with a 12 hour chapter ring, but they do exist.

    So many options!
Pretty sure I want black dial, orange plane hands - Adds some interest compared to the monochrome black white look. That means an Orfina/PD has to be the mil version I think.

Does the Ti case make a lighter watch? My “daily drive” is an Orange Monster -not exactly a lightweight.
The cosmonaut looks worth more investigation.

This is by far my most favourite and probably the rarest of my Lemania’s 5100.

You should also consider the heuer 510.501. That fits the bill nicely
