Good God no! I'm currently reading Keith Richards' autobiography by coincidence, and he details how they struggled to get him to join the band as he was already a professional drummer. But what a life he's had! Seen them 3 times, and his timing and power on the sticks was always impeccable and seemingly effortles, a little like a swan swimming, you just don't notice the feet going like the clappers, just the incredible and beautiful result. RIP Charlie lad.

I was very sad to hear this news break. One of popular music's real characters.

In an interview not long after Bill Wyman left the band, Keith said that the Stones could continue without Ronnie Wood if he were to leave, but not without himself, Mick or Charlie. Perhaps the end of the band after all this time. Quite a moment in the story of popular music, and a sad one.

I'm not going to deny I shed a tear on hearing the news. What a life, what a legend and remained a gentleman by all accounts.

Died peacefully surrounded by his family. Perfect way to go. RIP Charlie.
