    RIP Una Stubbs

    My very first crush.
    I remember I couldn't take my eyes off her when I was allowed to watch Till Death Us Do Part in the 60s.

    Another legend ascended to the celestial theatre.

    She was, by all accounts, a lovely lady.
    So clever my foot fell off.

    Ah more sad news, she always seemed eternally youthful.
    RIP.

    She was just great, so much charisma and character and a great talent, fantastic in Sherlock too.

    A true loss, I've watched her in so many things over the years and she really could act. RIP and goodbye.

    Very sad, when all your favourite childhood heros start to move towards the stars. Una was the perfect Aunt sally. No one could have done that better.

    A childhood crush of mine too as Aunt Sally. A lovely combination of purity, chic and mischief. Didn't realise the Cliff connection until yesterday. RIP dear Una.

    A good career without the pressures that fame brings it would seem. That role in til Death....was fantastic for her, working against the monster Alf Garnett (cant imagine that series being made now) and her long suffering mother. Obit in the Guardian lists all the stage stuff she did - theatre was her environment with TV an added bonus. Surprised she wasnt in Austin Powers as it was prob like that in her life.

    She always seemed such a genuinely lovely lady, and like a lot of us was very much a part of my childhood in Worzel Gummidge etc.

    I always used to enjoy her name being referenced from her ‘Give Us a Clue’ days on the Radio 4 show ‘I’m Sorry I haven’t A Clue’.

    One of my favourite lines delivered by the late great Humphrey Littleton was;

    The experts expert on Give Us A Clue, was Lionel Blair. Who can ever forget opposing team captain Una Stubbs sitting open mouthed as he tried to pull off Twelve Angry Men in under two minutes!
