Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Great that business is booming for you though Eddie

Eddie, your email said all version of the Caribbean available, but the website is showing yellow/blue sold out. Which is the case?
Looking forward to wearing this in the sun

Wonderful pics. Congratulations on that purchase. I love the creamy lume too. I have been banging on about the lume in a few posts but this is very sympathetic and elegant.
I was wondering is there a technical or manufacturing reason why the renaults are as deep as there are?
The crystal is 4.5mm thick according to the spec sheet, it needs to be to ensure the WR, It’s also domed which does increase the distortion / impression of depth.
On the wrist it does look quite deep / tall. I think this is down to the modest diameter and lug to lug measurement in comparison to its thickness. However, on paper it’s dimensions are similar to a lot of modern watches.
For comparison with watches with similar depth ratings:
Smiths Caribbean: Dia 39.6, depth 15.2, L2L 44.5
Sinn U1: dia 44, depth 14.6, L2L 50.5
Tudor Pelagos: dia 42, depth 14, L2L 50
Seiko MM300 tuna: dia 47.6, depth 15, L2L 44
Scuba pro 500: dia 41, depth 14.5 L2L 45
As you can see there is not a lot in it with regards to thickness, it’s also similar in size to the Scubapro which is a high water resistance vintage dive watch.
I have to admit since it’s arrival early last week it’s not been love at first sight, other things have been worn; I will persevere as it’s a great looking watch but the height (or to be more accurate the impression of thickness) niggles me a bit. Time will tell. I probably need to find the right strap for it.
One thing that cannot be argued is the value for money this watch represents a 1000m rated dive watch with fantastic looks for less than £400 is incredible.
Sorry for going a little off topic

#120 Interesting post, for me the great attraction of the Caribbean is its 70's vibe, domed crystal, deep rehaut, the hands seem to float across the dial.

Yes, very useful observations. Sort of confirms what I’ve been thinking which has stopped me from trying to get one in the Sunday scramble. There is no doubt it is a fantastic watch and on the right wrist it will work a treat.
Feeling mighty pleased with myself: missed the blue version by a whisker last month, just secured one now. Now I can enjoy what remains of the weekend.
It is a lovely little watch. A bit tall but I like it that way.
Very pleased.
Was worried about sizing as some micro brands like going to the town with Loctite but looks like Eddie hasn’t heard of Loctite and it is good that way. Couple of screws were slipping when trying to size it but managed.
The watch itself is everything I expected it to be-really nice.
Opted for black though the yellow with black bezel also looks very nice in pics below.
All in all, a fantastic release from TF.
Thanks for that. It makes sense that the crystal thickness and height above pinion are relative to the water pressures experienced. that said my Sea dweller has 4K depth rating and a small visible rehault.
I'm not trying to have ago at the Caribbean it is a great value watch. Its just that personally I prefer the look of a thin rehault and always wondered why it seemed to vary so from watch to watch.
Is there any chance these might make a comeback?
Maybe a silver dial?
I had the impression that they're still available, possibly not in all colours, I wouldn't know about that.
As it happens I'm wearing a blue dial Carribean right now which I bought in the summer. Looking at the serial number on the caseback, it's a September 23 production date so at least one further batch must have been produced, not necessarily in all colours, since the initial run.
A silver dial would be attractive. It was one of the originally proposed colours but as I recall was dropped when the idea of a yellow dial with blue/black bezel found favour. At that time no doubt Eddie didn't want to have too many colour variations - and perhaps that's still the case.
The Blue, Black and Yellow with Blue Bezel are all still available.
