I'm not usually a fan of bright coloured dials but the yellow/blue works really well. Having said that I'm boring so still prefer the black. No doubt they will sell very well.

Lovely colour combo. I like the orange one too.
I don't need any more watches, but I'm tempted to have a go for either!

To me you can only judge a watch by its black dial version* and it looks amazing. I love the shape and the heaviness of the hands and the "caribbean cut" of the lugs. Very distinctive. I can't wait to see the prices of these on sickbay.

Those are handsome watches. Have to agree about the shape and heaviness of the hands, they look really good.

Yellow please. I'll send the janitor to pick it up later today.

Is this the sunburst yellow dial, like the full yellow Caribbean?

The yellow/blue combo does look good, but I've given up trying to love yellow dials.

They always look good in photos, but I don't like them much on my wrist!

If I'm around for the Sunday lottery, I might try and get a black one, but I'm not paying eBay fleecer prices for one.

Agreed, it's one of the nicest things about a very nice watch.

I'm sure, too, that this is going to be one of those watches that looks even better in your hand than in photos.

I believe Eddie has suggest in a previous post that they would not be north of £1000, closer to half that but probably above £500.

I'm going to plump for the middle and closer to £700-£750.

As lovely as these are I can't get that excited about them (at least from the pictures anyway). Which is a relief because, if I had liked them more, it would have been very difficult to decide between these and the Baby Dreadnought. As it stands I like the latter much more. Still, it's a bit of a moot point as the funds aren't there for either.

All colourways look great, I especially like the yellow dial model....all in all, these pieces are an excellent homage to the Ollech & Wajs Caribbean 1000 from 1964.

I'm curious as to how the bezel is meant to be read?

I think the two-coloured bezels look best on the original watch:

    pic from WUS

But the 1-12 bezel also existed:

This is the closest to the Smiths apart from the splayed lugs (which are a hassle and I am glad they were ignored).

Seems quite a remarkable price considering the Doxa is just under a grand

Given the specification, the much lower than expected price is extremely community-spirited.

Can someone tell me how the bezel works? Does it click round in 1 hour increments or is it a standard 120 click bezel? Is it bidirectional? Bit confused how I'd use a 12-hour bezel practically, bit like when I see N, S, E, W bezels on watches.

  44. #44
Given it’s depth rating and bezel configuration I’d be very surprised if it was bidirectional!

Whilst the blue and black models look very tempting, I think to stay true to the Caribbean 'legacy' (for want of a better expression), the orange / yellow / blue and yellow are really the only options for me.

I just hope I have my fast fingers working on Sunday.

The blue on the yellow/blue looks black to me, although the younger folk in the house can see it is blue so that's tempting but I don't have a yellow or orange in the collection at present so inclined to go full Doxa. Just not sure which...
