That is a lovely looking watch.
Did you buy it from Japan?
First 'new' watch in a year or so, a Citzen 'Homer' (shrug).
This one is a birth year watch for me. This model has an interesting background, detailed here: https://www.fratellowatches.com/citi...vintage-watch/
...but in short they were manual wind watches issued to Japanese National Railways employees, on the the back you have the Showa year of issue, the number of the watch, and the division of JNR it was issued to. As the 'second setting' text implies, it's a hacking watch. Width is about 36mm, and the dial is a brilliant blue white. Very pleased with it (so far...). My only quibble is that the crown is very small, so winding isn't as easy as it could be.
Doh!
That’s nice. It’s in fabulous condition.
Do you have pictures of the case back?
Do they really go for the sort of money on that article?
If so I am going googling now.
Nope, but it's pretty good and shiny.
As mentioned above, you'd probably want to budget 150 pounds+, more if you're taking fewer risks with one that has good photography on the auction site. And a service probably wouldn't go amiss either!
Lovely. The handset is delightful.

Anyone else expect to see a Citizen with Simpsons branding watch?
Ok, so I bought another one of these. These really are beautiful vintage watches with an interesting history. I would absolutely corner the market on good ones if I had the time and energy. For ~150 quid, I don't know what is out there to touch them.
I was looking for something along the lines of Citizen Smith
I am not (really) disappointed as this is a lovely watch I never knew existed.
Well done!
