Agree with this - 30-40 million for one of the top players in the Prem is a bit of a joke.

Would rather we had him next season and lose him for nothing rather then take these numbers being quoted

It’s football economics though. He’s 30 so whoever buys him won’t be selling him on for a fee in 3 (or 4) years and no transfer value to Liverpool in 12 months time if he stays. It’s always a complex situation. Probably the player’s desire to move and attitude if he doesn’t get the move is crucial.
