British Grand Prix Silverstone 2022 - Weekend Tips

We're going to be Silverstone newbies at long last this year for the whole weekend. Despite there being lots of advice on the Interweb I though I'd ask the TZ collective for their advice for the GP weekend.....as I always trust your views (even with slippers).

We have weekend tickets and are currently thinking we'll go sometime on Thursday as we're camping at Woodlands......leaving maybe Sunday evening or Monday morning. So collective what would be your 'top-tips' to make the most of this great event?

Get there as early as you can and pitch on higher ground. If the weather turns, lower spots can get flooded. If you cannot park next to your tent it can be a trek with all your camping gear, a camping trolley/cart would have made my life much easier.

You'll have a great weekend, enjoy.

Assuming you don't have Grandstand tickets for the Sunday I'd recommend you scope out the track on Friday and Saturday to work out where you want to watch for the race. Then get to the track as soon as it opens (5am?) early on the Sunday morning so you can get the spot you want otherwise you'll end up behind rows of people who got there before you and you'll hardly be able to see the track!

And taking fold up camping chairs to the track of course.

Have a great weekend, I'm jealous!

Am going on the Sunday for the first time in many years (since 1997).

Things may have changed a bit, but agree with the previous advice - camp on a high spot - if you don't have a grandstand seat, get to your chosen spot really early otherwise they'll all be taken.

    Enjoy the day!

Take suncream and an umbrella! Last time I was there, I got absolutely drenched (they started behind the safety car), and then sunburn later on

Absolutely agree with the above - get there early and assume the weather will be all of the weathers. Dress for the sun, bring rain protection.

Good footwear and decent backpacks with plenty of water and food is a good idea, as you'll find yourself in the same spot for some time. A decent set of noise cancelling headphones can help too, if you want to tune into the commentary.

    This. And a hat.
