I picked up a new 3861 moonwatch sapphire sandwich yesterday on the bracelet. Trying out some different look options as most of my other watches are on steel bracelets.
So put a rubber strap with deployant on to see how the black / blue mashes up. The rubber strap is from an aqua terra, so it has some shiny bits by the lugs making it look a bit different to other rubber straps.
I’m not sure if the look works? The new moonwatch with the applied logo looks a bit flashier than the old one, so maybe it works… what do you think?
No offence but it wouldn’t be for me, I would be thinking more Ammo leather strap for that style of watch.

That's the first strap I've seen not work on a Speedy, sorry
Nah.. I tried mine on a budget 'Rubber-B' styled strap and it didn't work.
Your best bet is to keep it on the bracelet or go for a contrasting perlon or nato

Sorry that really doesn't work...that strap is perfect on the AT and rubbish on everything else, because it's so distinctive.
Yeah, comments largely confirming what I suspected… I’m ordering some other strap options now - will then experiment further… which is also part of the fun
I have just ordered something from Haverston, I haven't received it yet so no idea what its like but they have some nice choices.
Worth having a look if you're not familiar with them.

One of my favourite combinations is on a brown leather rally strap. Bought on the forum, custom made for an extremely reasonable price. I'm afraid the blue doesn't work for me either.

I can't say I like the blue rubber strap either.
Not a fan of Perlon either though.
The leather strap in the last shot is nice - I have a similar strap I keep meaning to try my Speedmaster on, but I like it on a Di-Modell Rallye.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
Watchgecko do a nice Rallye strap in a few colours, I think it's called Gillingham
Sorry, but it looks awful, blue straps on black watches just pure evil :)
/vince ..
This is the Omega Rally strap I have mine on sometimes
It doesn’t sit quite as flush to the case as it looks, but I like it.
I’m a big fan of rubber/silicone straps generally but I agree with the consensus- I don’t think that one works.
As a random comment regarding a couple of the other photos here, I actually think the Speedmaster looks a little odd on curved end straps - no idea why .

You’re going to hate me for being picky, but the profile of the strap doesn’t match the profile of the lugs and case side. I think it looks like an afterthought. It would be better with a straight end imo.
Simon
I think the people who’ve referred to the curved/straight ends have a point, it doesn’t look right with curved ends.

Sorry mate, that blue doesn't do anything for me.
Can never go wrong with a classic vintage brown leather strap.

This is my favourite strap on my Speedy, bought from Pav79 on this forum...

The rally style ones look appropriate. Sorry the blue doesn’t work (for me).
“ Ford... you're turning into a penguin. Stop it.” HHGTTG
I’d never wear a blue shirt with a black suit or vice versa, it just doesn’t go imho. Thought that the first time I saw a Rolex ‘Batman’ - Any other colour combo looks better imho!

Sorry OP that rubber strap looks dreadful.
Can't see a reason for a rubber strap on anything but a diver to be honest.
I have an 861 (1985) speedie and experimented with loads of straps including Omega NATOs, leather rallye straps etc.
To be honest none were as good as the 1471 bracelet that came with the watch, and that is how I always wear it now.
I have a drawer full of 20mm straps I must do something with at some point
