Looks superb!! I wish I wasn’t so far gone , would have done it years ago. Nothing like losing your hair at 21 to kill your confidence!!

Decent result! Having turned 50 been considering some MOT work, looked many a time at this and also scalp micropigmentation - head tattoo to the uninitiated - did you consider the latter at all?

I think what worries me is getting the hairline right, some I’ve seen are shocking but yours does looks very natural.

Only two hours in the car to Glasgow… hmmm…

I was really impressed by DHI. They didn't over promise and the focus was always on a natural hairline which is age appropriate. Never looked into the head tattoo option. Seen a few online videos but I think they look quite obvious

Apparently, I never knew this the hair on the sides and back is genetically different and not susceptible to male pattern hair loss. So I have been told the results are permanent (obviously subject to natural ageing)

Maybe a daft question but what if you’re generally not a hairy person, can they still get enough.

Also, looks 100 times better!!! Well done

Not a silly question. When I got my consultation they checked the quality of the hair on the sides and back of my head for both density and follicle growth. The quality of the donor hair is apparently the biggest indication of over success

Brilliant, well done and sincere thanks for sharing. I've been shaving my head for about 20 years, No.1 and sometimes a Bic razors.

Personally I hate the male pattern baldness, I'd like to have the choice to grow mine. It just looks stupid when I do, is very thin and any length at all to it, then it starts to look like a comb over.

I don't suit hats, the winters can be sore, especially when it rains.

Good health to enjoy sir !

Thank you so much for sharing your journey, it's something I've been considering for a while, but never really knew what the success rate would be like.
I am amazed and impressed with your results and how great you look.
Can I ask: is that it now, or will there be any ongoing treatments etc...?

No ongoing treatment although will keep going with finasteride which is the generic brand of propecia. It is not a requirement but IMO won't do any harm and I haven't had any side effects

Is finasteride Rx, or is it the usual £25 a month type thing?

Wondering if it can kickstart growth!

  14. #64
Well done and thanks for posting. The procedure is not for me - hair was thinning from early 20s and now on a four-day interval number nought treatment, but I have a different and very positive view on it now. Nice one.

Prices vary for the generic brand shouldn't cost more than £200 a year. Although as I said don't think it's a requirement

Don't get it personally, but if it bothered you and you're happier now, then money well spent I say. I hated my hair as a kid, really thick and curly, but not curly enough to do the afro look, just looked a mess. Shaved it all off at 17, no2 to start then a No1, carried on for nearly 30 years so far. Now bald as a coot at 46 and it's just less to shave off every couple of weeks, really don't care about my big shiny bit. I think you looked great before and after, so if you're happy with it crack on
I'm glad that a shaved head is accepted as a normal haircut now and for most of my life. Being born in 75, the 80's would have you branded as a skin head and I remember the first couple of kids at school around 89/90 being ripped apart for being Romanian orphans, thankfully it became accepted not long after and still is

I’m similar in my 50’s. My dads side of the family all have masses of thick hair and my mums all went bald in their early twenty’s.

Mine grows quickly and thickly and I used to get annoyed at how often I had to go the the barbers.

You are right about the acceptance on a shaved head. I have a lot of friends some of them high up in their companies so it’s not an issue any more.

I used to have a no. 1 that I did myself every week or so. My wife made me grow it some more as she didn’t like it.

    Cheers, Shaun

Update for those interested. Just passed the 9 months mark and decided to cut my hair short (No2). Still expecting significant more growth and thickening of the hairs. If you zoom into the third picture in particular you will see lots of hairs about to "pop through"

    Some pics ..

That looks fantastic! Is your plan to grow it out? I'd love to know what it would be like compared to your original hair.

Definitely will grow it longer but too many lengths at moment so short is probably better. Couple of original photos in first post

Michael...really looks good, and natural. Congrats to you on taking the chance and having it turn out so successfully. Many years of satisfaction ahead of you as a result.

    Damn...you're almost good looking now!

Also look at hair systems for those guys who are too bald for the transplants. No need to take finasteride either

    Looks good.

At 9 months most of the growth will be through but the hair will thicken up and sit better. The coverage will look great if you grow it out a little and if you throw in a little toppik, you will be golden!

So by way of update. Decided to go for a third session to bulk up part of the front and the crown. Now on day 10 and things are going to plan.

Amazing results. I always thought a hair transplant was fake hair which did not grow.

That is a cracking result! Very impressive indeed. I’m to old (and cowardly) to even consider it. Strange thing was I kept most of my hair into my early fifties before it made a fairly sudden departure.

An amazing result! What happens though if you’re not that hairy? Where would the transplant hair come from?

I had mine done 20 months ago, an easy and uncomplicated procedure in my home city of Frankfurt.
    Total cost was €5.5k.

They want me back so they can have a professional photographer take photos of my Barnet for their website; wonder if I should charge them?

Inspired by Michael's post I too went through this and am thrilled with the results. Had the 2 day procedure at the same place as Michael and have to say it's the best thing I've done and I wouldn't have done it had Michael not started the post here - so huge thanks!!

Anyone that's on the fence thinking about doing this, recovery was quick and results so far have been brilliant. Thanks again Michael for all the help and advice, top bloke

Great thread and fantastic results. This is inevitable for me sadly so I've been following with interest.

If only they could change it so body hair growth routed to the head instead!
