    Hair transplant

Wasn't sure if I should post this or not but thought it may be interesting for some people. I have had thinning hair since my late 20s and been progressively getting it cut shorter and shorter over the years. Over the last few years I have been going for a number one all over.

I have been considering a hair transplant for a number of years and decided with lockdown etc that I would go for it last December. I never worried or was anxious about my hair line I simply didn't like it.

Procedure was two days at DHI in Glasgow and in reality it was a very easy and for me pain free. A bit of itching and a red scalp was the extent of my post procedure issues.

It's the small stuff I have noticed. My head wasn't as cold in spring and sitting outside in the summer no sunburn on my crown

So now coming up on the 7 1/2 months mark and my hair is starting to thicken and mature. Really pleased with the results so far and I have been told that the final results will be about a year. Some pictures to illustrate.

The before pics are 2020 and the others over the last month or so.

Good on you, Michael - results look impressive.

Cost wise, I’m guessing it’s this, or a new Seamaster

Looks good on you, but not something I would personally consider as I have been shaving my head weekly for over 20 years now. I remember Russ Abbot having it done and he had a row of dots across his head, hopefully things have moved forward since then.

Jesus that’s impressive. Had no idea this kind of think actually worked, always assumed it was a bit of a con job. You must be chuffed

Thanks guys. So just under 3,000 hair follicle grafts and apparently circa 10,000 plus hairs should be the final result. Hair at moment is still popping through and the hair isn't mature so thinner than the final result

This one from June maybe gives a better idea of hairline

Looks a lot better than I would have expected. Does it leave it much thinner where it came from?
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

It looks natural and is a superb job. Well done. Personally I wouldn't go under the knife for cosmetic reasons. Had a first degree burn on my head since childhood so being called baldy at school really was water off a ducks back. If it makes you feel more confident and feel like you look better then more power to you. I honestly think it looks amazing. Like it grew there!

Looking good. My nephew (late 20s) had it done about 3 years ago now. I didn't see him until a few months afterwards and it was already looking well at that stage. Now he has just got a really natural looking, full head of hair.

I’d researched it, never made the move as started cutting to 0.5 with clippers twice a week. Was amazed how much colder it was over winter though.

Results look great, happy for you.

    Looks great, great post.

I suspect it’s a really stupid question, what stop the fair follicles dying again?

Cheers guys. Hopefully the thread is of use to some people considering/thinking about it. I have been very open about the procedure with work colleagues etc so happy to answer any questions by pm if it helps

Apparently, I never knew this the hair on the sides and back is genetically different and not susceptible to male pattern hair loss. So I have been told the results are permanent (obviously subject to natural ageing)

Wow, this is very impressive! Well done OP on sharing as well, I'm not sure I'd be quite so confident to do so - admire you for it!

I always knew it was coming and hair was thinning in the classic bald spot/receding hairline from my mid-20s. I went straight to DE razors and shave my head 1-2 times a week. In all honesty I quite like it, although always had something like this in the back of my mind. Wouldn't ever rule it out, but for now I'm quite happy. You look great with it though, and as others have said - the results look incredible!

Are you taking Propecia daily ? That’s what always put me off.

  35. #35
Looks great! You hear so many horror stories about it going wrong so really encouraging to see it can be relatively plain sailing.

Things have come on a lot for anyone looking for a solution to hair loss. I've seen some pretty impressive results from SMP as well.

Not sure if it's a requirement if hair loss is at a stage where the hair loss on the recipient ares is stable and the procedure provides the covering in terms of transplanted grafts

I sent these pics by pm and maybe worth posting on the main thread. Not flattering but you will get the idea

The two day procedure started with the crown on Day 1 then the front on Day 2. The pics range from Day 1 to Day 3

    Day 1

    Day 2

    Day 2

    Day 3

You tend to see a couple of heads like that on the plane home from Istanbul. Very popular destination for it.

I can only see this being more and more popular.

I got put off that from a One Show report, didn’t look overly reassuring.

Actually no pain at all. Local anesthetic injections numb the scalp during the procedure. For a couple of days after my scalp felt a bit tight then for a few days a bit of itching but obviously can't touch the grafts. A saline spray applied every 30 mins does the trick.

Maybe other people have had pain etc but honestly it was a pain free procedure for me

Looks great. How much did it all cost out of interest? Not that I am looking to get it done - wrong side of 50 and all that.

I get by on my Bob Mortimer / Alexander Armstrong sort of look - a good tuft at the front, but a good penalty spot at the back.

OP says above circa the cost of a Rolex Sub - I'm assuming current model RRP (not one of those fancy Red ones).

Cost me about £8,400 for 2 days. Not including aftercare pack. Some deals were slightly cheaper at circa £7,500 but limited dates were available

3 staff including a Doctor with over 10 years experience. Some use technicians so worth checking out

Turkey and Greece in same clinic chain are considerably cheaper but didn't fancy that so didn't enquire about exact prices. PS all 3 were Greek

that looks mighty impressive, although you had a good 'bald' bonce in terms of the short/no hair looking ok due to your face shape etc

I'm glad I've got a full head of hair as my head feels a bit odd with lumps and bumps, I suspect it would look like a bad experiment if I had to shave it off!

Just the penis enlargement and some of that Creed aftershave on SC and you will be beating them off with a shitty stick Michael.
