Simple to use video editing software advice please.

    Hi all,

I'm putting together a little video with some messages form loved ones for my wife's upcoming birthday. I need to cut video content and paste together, have a few graphics (not animated, just some words) and overlay it with music.

I'm not the most tech savvy so am hoping there is some kind of editing software that makes all this relatively easy.

My preference is Windows 10 but I do have an ipad Pro should there be a better IOS alternative.

    Any pointers greatly recieved.

Video Editor is part of Windows, should do all you need.

I used Adobe premiere rush recently on the pc and found it fairly straightforward to use. You get 3 free exports on the pc software.

+1 for Video editor. Its part of Windows 10, so you should have this on your machine. Its easy to use, but a bit clunky. I have made some fairly presentable videos using this.

iMovie, really easy to use. I put a vid together for the first time in an hour. Tons of Youtube how to's and beginner info for it.

Thanks all - I'll have a look at iMovies and Windows Movie maker.

Next stupid question, where can I download music files? Dolly Parton 9 -5, Alice Cooper Schools out for summer as examples. I really am new to this.

    Amazon is one option. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Very-Best-D...7633816&sr=8-1

I get my single songs from amazon.

I use lightworks to make videos. It's a little trickier to use than the apple/windows free ones, but you can do a lot more.

You can download the audio from YouTube then edit it.

I use VNC for this. Here's a URL with the relevant info. I'd shy away from installing any YouTube download apps or websites as they are notorious for being full of spyware or virus.

    I think you mean VLC.

I didn't know it did that and i've been using it for years - thanks for the tip! I can't recommend VLC enough, a brilliant piece of free software - it plays everything you throw at it - vid and audio - whatever the file format you have quickly and efficiently.

Shotcut is a great free tool for video editing and audio mixing. Very simple to use and some great features.

You are all probably going to think I'm daft and laugh ..........but I do videos for my kid's grassroots footie team and I put them together using only Microsoft Powerpoint.

I find Powerpoint good for being able to insert any wording, pictures and graphics positioned wherever i want in the video....

I'm not a professional and i use my employers PC, so dont wish to 'download' anything I shouldn't.

    Worth a try !

    As well as match highlights, this is the sort of thing they get ;
