Which Tudor to get? Black Bay 36 vs Black Bay 58

So I'm eyeing up my first "luxury" watch, and I'm really torn between these two watches:

    Tudor Black Bay 36 £3070:

    https://www.ernestjones.co.uk/websto...racelet+watch/

and the Tudor Black Bay 58 £2760:

    https://www.ernestjones.co.uk/websto...racelet+watch/ or https://www.ernestjones.co.uk/websto...racelet+watch/

The first one seems far more versatile, and I do worry that the BB 58 would get mistaken for a Rolex occasionally, leading to a pretty awkward conversation. Which do you guys prefer/would you buy given the choice?

    Thanks!

If you're concerned about the BB58 being mistaken for a Rolex wouldn't the same apply to a 2 tone BB36 that looks very similar to a bi metal Rolex Datejust?

For the record I'd go BB58 (in blue though) all day long but if you want a Rolex I would hold out for one. That said, you shouldn't lose too much on a BB58 if you decided to move to a Rolex at some point in the future. I am very very impressed by the BB58 and in the crazy world of watches it actually represents very good value (plus who cares if someone has an issue with if not being a Rolex?).

BB58, it's personal preference but I strongly suspect the majority will agree. I'd suggest the BB58 is the more versatile option compared to a two-tone BB36. Also if someone mistakes a BB58 for a Rolex, that seems to just show they don't know much about Rolex rather than anything else. They aren't visually particularly similar, there's a million-and-one Sub clones, this isn't one of them.

Try both on and make your choice based on what you actually want to wear. My 2 cents.

I think the rolex submariner is probably more iconic (though wrongfully) than the datejust, more recognisable ect.

Of those two, I would pick the Seamaster - every day of the week.

Agreed. The Seamaster is an Omega iconic piece and will never go out of style.

Of those two, an easy choice - BB58.

No one will think it’s a Rolex.

So, between BB36 and BB 58, you guys would choose Omega Seamaster. Interesting.

What about a Tag Heuer Aquaracer? They are the Ferrari of the watch world.

But someone might mistake it for Omega.

Buy a dress watch instead, but only one that conforms to what is expected rather than any personal choice.

I also think a new Omega Seamaster is much better built than a Tudor...it's in a category above in terms of quality. Considering you can get hold of one on SC for £3300, I'd be buying that over any Tudor at RRP.

BB58 for me. Personal preference. Can't go wrong with it.

The BB36 in the link is nasty in my opinion, the mileage of others may vary - looks more like a woman's watch on that bracelet. I have a black BB36 and love it so it's nothing to do with the size.

BB58 for me, in the blue.

I have the 58, a suberb watch (I know I am biased). I love mine.
