Been a long time and I have too much time on my hands this morning so been playing with the collection.

Back in 2016/17 - with some luck I consolidated my collection on here which if I remember was 6 Rolex and 2 Omega for a few PPs before things went nuts .

Over the last few years I've started to creep back up in numbers and find myself with the following 6.
Now I find myself wanting to consolidate further as I think 4 is probably the ball park for me otherwise some get little wear in my rotation, however I'm not sure what direction I want to go in. Im itching to try a AP or maybe change up the PPs somehow.

Anyhow - here is where I am, in order of purchase:


PP Aquanaut

Purchased gratefully from a forum member when things were sensible. Love this watch and it served as my daily wearer for a fair few years until I started buying more additional watches. The dial is superb and the size is just right for me. I would of said it flies under the radar but of course not anymore! I still desire the 5164 Travel Time variant as I think this would be my perfect watch, I think the 42mm variants are too big!!! Love the fact it is so light on the wrist as you hardly feel its there at all. The strap is so comfy and kind of grips to the wrist without it being tight and I've never had a problem with the clasp like some people complain about. Ive worn it pretty much carefree since new with a little degree of sense (e.g. don't wear to the gym) and its surprisingly in superb nick.




PP 5711 Nautilus

I would be lying to say I'm not tempted to cash in however I am a sucker for a blue dial and when I put this on the thoughts of selling disappear as it is a case of what would I replace it with that is available. Have had thoughts of selling it for a AP Royal Oak Jumbo Blue dial and putting any extra cash towards upgrading the 5167 to a 5164. However I've noticed the AP prices have gone through the roof and I would prob be lucky to get 10K out of an exchange. At the time of purchase I also fancied a 5712 for the complications, but I have never tried one and some people say it appears less blue / more grey then the 5711 so maybe I made the right choice. Love the bracelet on this watch so silky, however I agree the clasp is a bit fiddly - especially when you first own the watch, sometimes I really have to get a nail under it to lift it open! I took it to Patek HQ at the Rockerfella in NYC to get the 1.5 link fitted which made the fit perfect as I was kind of in-between size wise like many people are.







Rolex 116500 Daytona

Wear this a lot nowadays! Probably overtook my Aquanaut in recent times as my daily! It was purchased on my honeymoon so brings back great memories of NYC, Florida and Cruising the Caribbean! I was gutted when these first came out as my Rolex AD (who were superb and got me anything I wanted) had just lost its Rolex status so I had no chance. It was my first purchase from a grey and at the time I felt a little bit iffy about over paying for it but it was way cheaper in the US greys and bizarrely now a bargain in the scheme of things!

I upgraded from a 16520 and love the improvements. I found the 16520 white dial I had was a bit more feminine and suited my wife more then me. I think the black ceramic made it less blingy for sure and I much prefer the look on the white version though understand the die hards may disagree, I sthink the 16520 black dial version looks better in hindsight. I was torn between the white and black ceramic just as I was with the 16520 however it is nice to have a white dial alongside all the darker ones in my collection so this is what helped me make my decision. I do see the black now and then and think I would like to try it, however since this was bought on honeymoon I don't think I could sell / trade it.




Rolex GMT

I had a good year at work so as an impulse buy grabbed the GMT out of the blue. Must admit I do love it in the sunshine however I feel the Jubilee bracelet makes it a bit too blingy - especially as a travel watch! I think this would be the first to go if I was to consolidate a few. The blue / purple bezel debate seems to roll on but I've never really seen it as purple. I guess I could try an Oyster bracelet on this for an experiment at some point to see if it makes a difference to me!




Omega Seamaster No Time To Die

Being a 007 nut, the whole reason I joined TZ many many years ago was to research and source the Casino Royale Co-Axial Seamaster!! I think I paid a forum member on here 900 pounds plus a Generation 1 iPad on sales corner!!!!! It was to be my one and only watch and proves I have failed miserably!

I appear to have a bit of a pattern going on when a new Bond film is released, I usually purchase the watch in the movie, get bored of it after a few years and then sell it!!! Ive done this with the 2 Omegas from Casino Royale, PO from Quantum, Aqua Terra from Skyfall and the Omega Seamaster from SPECTRE! In hindsight I don't think you can beat the PO 2500 series and prob should of kept it!

No idea how long this one would last - I thought it would be nice to have the watch from Daniel Craigs final Bond film. Its a bit of a looker with the domed crystal and Milanese bracelet. The only negative about this watch is that I fall between holes on the bracelet for a nice fit. I wear it tight rather the the loose option (hate loose watches). Ive since been told there are three different Milanese sizes now offered by Omega so maybe one will give me the perfect fit, however its a lot of messing about to do this. Omega also changed the design of the bracelet as some people had the bracelet welding points break off (they are now beefier an referred to a MKII however it is not Screen Accurate for the die hards). This was my first titanium watch - I must admit I do find Titanium a bit weird feeling still and I am not referring to the weight.






Rolex Sub 120460

This was my most recent purchase a few months ago but due to travel have only received in the last 5 weeks. My collection was missing a Sub as over the years I had previously sold a 114060, 116610 and Hulk. All I can say is Wow - what a huge difference the subtle changes on the case and bracelet have made. The watch looks and feels so much better and although the "blocky" case of its predecessors did not bother me at the time too much, I always felt it was a bit too square. Really in love with this watch at the moment (honeymoon period noted) however there are a few tiny adjustments I would still make - clasp is now a bit too big and overall the watch is its still a bit too glossy as per most of Rolex sports. I would still like to try a 14060 at some point as well as the discontinued Sea Dweller 4K.





Anyhow - back up to 6, would ideally like to consolidate back to 4

I would really struggle to get that collection down to 4. Though I agree that maybe a step up from the aquanaut to the travel time would be awesome!
If pushed the two that would leave for me would be the Nautilus and the no time to die. Purely because for me the sub and the travel time would get far more wear. Then potentially upgrade the GMT to a white gold model?

Yeah the travel time is the way I would like to go. It would make the GMT redundant also. Though not sure a 5167 and GMT BLRO would get me a Travel Time on the grey market

Yeah. Problem I have is that im not back over here too often so miss the 5164 opportunities when a grey has one.

Also no idea what my 5167 would offset. Would of liked to think GMT and 5167 would do the trick but things are crazy nowadays

I would hold the 5167. It will be discontinued in the next 2 years I think. It’s a year younger than the 5711 only so has to be on the cards. Then jump 15-20 percent over night. Who the hell is paying these prices is anyone’s guess.

Mainstream or not, for me it doesn’t get much better than that in terms of a beautiful, wearable collection. (Well, I could live without the Seamaster). Fantastic little set.

Superb collection. Aquanaut is rarely seen worn these days. I was a bit stupid to dump mine it is understated and super slim - but mustn’t hold a regret. You have some lovely pieces, though maybe the bond is a strange one I can I understand the appeal. Martyn

I'm not a fan of Omega's HEV solution, Raj, so don't imagine I'd ever want to buy one. All of the others are spot on, though.

Yes I did consider the AP OffShore Diver in the past - though it looks like it is pretty chunky and high off the wrist.

The VC overseas did interest me also - the strap change system looks superb. Would love to see them in the flesh, the pink gold variants look nice also. As a blue dial fan, the blue dial variants look a bit too blue in pics (if that makes sense) so wouldnt mind checking the range out in a AD
