    An Interesting Vintage Rolex

Went for a wander through Argyll Arcade today and came across this little beauty…

Wee bit pricey even with that pedigree?

No idea on the price, but I think all watches are overpriced. Bloody gorgeous piece though!

It sticks out a bit when compared to the other watches in the picture.
A fair bit more expensive than anything else in the window display I would have thought.
A very slim chance of a walk in buyer I would guess

If they're going to charge that much at least get his name right!

These auction results would seem to indicate the seller is just a tad optimistic!

The seller should put it on SC. There are dealers there that don’t like to reduce prices, even after 2 years…

The same shop had a (Lange?) B-Uhr on offer for a crazy price. (There may have been a thread about that as well, but I CBA looking!)

I don't think the intention is to sell, it's to generate publicity.

I went in to that dealer pre Covid. They had (or quite possibly still have) a cracker of a manually wound vintage Rolex Oyster with black dial. It was advertised as being 70's and it was priced at £2100. They were going to take £1800 for it. I checked the year of manufacture and I mentioned to them that it was 1966. The following day it had England World Cup winning year splashed all over it and it was now £2800. They really are a bunch of utter tw@ts.

Pretty poor show.....but then they can't even spell Valjoux, which is even worse for a watch dealer?!

I wonder why they spelt ‘Kily’ wrong two years ago, but changed the sign so that ‘Clade’ is spelt wrong this time?

Any prospective watch purchaser following the old adage "buy the seller" would be steering well clear.

For that kind of money, would you buy a house from someone who couldn't spell kitchen, or a classic car from someone who couldn't spell Ferrari?

Quite aside from the price, that's absolutely shagged

At some point you have to face facts and have these things (properly) restored, IMO...

I get the whole 'originality' thing, but that currently looks terrible

Change the name on the dial and it would be lucky to get £500 on eBay

Not sure why they feel the need to include pennies on the ticket.
