    Omega Aqua Terra 150m Ultralight

Just browsing the Omega on line catalogue looking at the Seamaster and Aqua Terra 150m range and came across the Ultralight.
Lovely watch I thought, just what I need for sailing, being light weight and I particularly liked the recessed crown, ideal for not getting caught on shrouds and rope in tension.
The price came as a bit of a shock at £41k, looks like my trusty Fortis will be with me for a while longer.

I had to go check it out myself with a price tag like that.

Totally agree, what a striking watch. With its subtle use of greys and dark, ceramic bezel. Gorgeous titanium movement too, but nearly £42k seems crazy.

It could be said for all luxury watches that there’s a cheaper alternative, but I’m really struggling to find the price justification.

Is the decimal point in the wrong place?

Here’s a smart alternative with the decimal point in the right place.

Is this the same one that they had Rory McIlroy promoting a few years back?

I'm really taken by that and I'm a sucker for a titanium watch, but can't fathom the price at all. Also, why the need for 3 different colour ways? It's like they couldn't make their minds up and just weakens the whole concept for me.

It’s a nice enough looking watch but where does the price come from? I just can’t see the logic / justification for charging that much.
(Yes - Veblen goods, exclusivity etc)
How could anyone who would want to buy it think it was value of money?
41k for a watch that looks like a Victorinox Inox made of the same material as well.

I suppose the Ti movement will add a bit of cost but not that much surely.

That's now my favourite looking Omega.

    The price is nuts though.

I remember a fair amount of buzz around it when it came out, and a lot of comments about the price.

Not sure who buys a £40k Aqua Terra, even if it gives you a better golf swing.

Really puzzled by the price on this one. I must be missing something but this is just a titanium AT?

I remember reading a thread on TRF where a guy was browsing the OB in NY and bought one as a walk in.

Always thought it was astonishing to be browsing an AD to pass time and end up walking out with that on your wrist.

It uses titanium in the calibre as well. If the tech and materials they are using push into Richard Mille territory, why not boost the price significantly?
The aqua terra branding seems strange though. It doesn’t share a strong family resemblance, so why not create a new product family to differentiate and help justify the price?

Titanium is neither expensive nor that much more difficult or complex to machine even at the dimensions of a movement so I'm still intrigued why they've priced this so high.

I think the marketing team were sniffing something at the time.. the price is stratospheric.

That Sealander Elite looks fantastic. I have seen Christopher Ward’s Ti casework in the metal, and it’s right up there with the best in the titanium business.
