CWC Diver - a bit of price groundtruth

Just spent an idle moment calculating the seller’s ‘take home’ price, after 12.8% eBay fees ( these are the ‘ended’ values within the last several months).

So… the ‘ended’ sale price x 0.872 is the ground truth of what , from a seller perspective, these watches went for:

    SBS:
    T luminova. £388
    87 reissue date £466
    87 reissue no date £492
    L dial. £402, £415, £412

    Silver:
    Quartz matte £371
    Quartz £349

All rather lower than the general perception, I think?

How’s that relevant to the price analysis?🤔

I bought my SBS for £475 on eBay which seems to be in the right ballpark.

prices seem to have calmed down a bit in general recently. Couple of mid tier Seikos I have been interested in for a while have seen a similar slowdown in the selling price. Month or 2 ago they were going for 800ish, last few I’ve watched have just scraped past 700.

I think there was a bit of lockdown boredom fuelling watch prices - I know I went on a bit of a spree. Now that things are opening up again I’m not spending nearly as much time stuck in house thinking about the next watch to buy!

    Today’s groundtruth: SBS L Dial Mk2.

    Seller’s take home after fees. £410 x 0.872 = £358

Friday special offer are supposedly 80% off final value fees.

I’m on managed payments and was recently charged 3% for a sale.
    That was £63 + £5 postage.
I got £65.96 into my bank

Chaps - shall we not turn a CWC price tracker thread into an ‘eBay thoughts’ thread?

As we have discussed before, most of the modern stuff sold by Silvermans does tend to have up to a 30% immediate loss against the original list price when sold on. It is also interesting how many of these divers are listed and the serial number is not shown in the listings, leading me to wonder if they are part of the stolen batches.

I would check the above link before buying anything recent on the second hand market.

Matt, I was pointing out that it wasn’t necessarily costing the seller as much as you may think.

Fair enough, but the heading of the thread does say CWC Diver, not CWC Quartz Divers.

I saw a couple of these stolen automatics at a bricks and mortar auction house very soon after the theft and reported it straight away to CWC. I am led to understand that it didn't lead to any prosecution of recovery of the watches which, frankly, mystifies me.

    Latest groundtruth:

(eBay is currently awash with black CWC divers, all with front stickers in place, identical tins, and no photos of the casebacks)

I have not checked for ages
Are they all from the same seller?
