Apart from that awful bezel, it looks good. Why not just a plain stainless one instead, as that awful pepsi one just does not go at all ..

I love the bezel but don't like the dial. :) Funny old world. I think this is one of those watches that needs to be seen in the flesh.
It might look a lot different to the stock Seiko marketing photo.

And for what it's worth I think both go together well.

Agree with both of those sentiments.

Not as nice as the original, but a reasonable update nonetheless (that said, less tall would be even better).

I predict a pogue reissue / reimagining within the next 12 months.

Haha. It'll be several kilometers larger than the original with a big X on the dial.

The affordable reimagining will, and it will cost £1850.

The simultaneous reissue will be very close in dimensions to the original and cost £5k.

    Probably

I guess that will push the value of originals up even further and even more difficult to find one in original condition than it is now.
Do you have a link for a new version.

I like it. I don't have a dive watch currently and this would suit nicely.

The finish on these new skx inspired 5's is very good for the price, certainly much better than their skx forebears, no reason for this to be any different. Agree it needs to be seen in the flesh regarding the colour combo though, my guess it will be fantastic or meh, but not anywhere between the two.

I’m not a fan of this one…I have a yellow dial 6139 and an SKX, to me this looks like their ‘ugly’ offspring 😊

The story behind how this came about is interesting.

The new 5's are nice but there are so many colour options of the SKX looking Seiko 5's now that I personally think the design has been done to death. It's time for Seiko to have a bit more imagination.
